  1. Hi all Just to let everyone know that this tread will continue on the other channel (WT) This will be the last post. Pete
  2. Thanks Peter Oh yes to the painting. The thought of someone else being involved in MY model, well it's no longer YOUR model is it? All my models are completed my me from start to finish. I too will be going onto WT, as I said, it's a great shame this site has been ruined!!!! When you get your M7 I do have a couple of the books recommended in the instructions (to be honest they weren't that helpful) would be happy to scan pages of interest and forward onto you. Thanks Blandford 1969 I have already made my mind up and will be modelling all of the levers, you have just reinforced my decision, so thank you. The sanders make sense too. Pete
  3. Final three pics, last two showing the scraper pick ups. It's a shame this site has been ruined, I enjoyed writing and sharing my progress with you guys, but I have to say it has now become a chore!!!!
  4. Chassis now complete, just a bit of tiding up here and there
  5. Sorry Lady's and Gents but this is becoming tedious and time consuming!!!!!!!!!!!!! One more pic of chassis. All wired up and working very very well indeed. I am very happy as she strutted her stuff up and down a length of track with a bend to boot. My little M7 ran dam near perfect YAY.
  6. Hiya It's been awhile and it looks like someone has tried to fix something that was not broken, ie this site!!!!!! Only 4 pics at a time, really. Chassis now painted. I used Phoenix P975 Black Satin, I find satin a better colour for the chassis as it's a lot easier to dirty up. Also sorted the wheels out to stop the screws coming loose.
  7. I saw this little beauty in this months Gazette. I'm also looking forward to seeing what has passed. Just found my old piggy bank, so I'd better start saving. Still have my M7 and her ladyship to finish first though. Pete
  8. Has been a bit of movement. I have now fitted all the pressure pipes front and rear, together with the lamp irons (Laurie Griffin) and the pipes to the front push-pull reservoir. The reservoir pipes are soldered to the underside but will not be soldered to the reservoir. I'm relying on the springing of said pipes to hold them in position, thus allowing me to remove the chassis. Just need to do a bit of cleaning up. Thanks to Western Star and Ray for the info on the gauge dials. As Dave pointed out, nil stock from CPL and they wont have any until later this year, so I got some from Springside. Not brilliant but I think I can work with them. Finally, does anyone know when these two hand brake style drain cock levers were fitted? and the other one to the side, what does that do? As you can see from my model there are lids either side, no slots for the leavers. Do I fit them or leave them off. I'm modelling late 50s to 63. There are so few pics of M7s that are useful. Oh yes, the film of the Surrey wanderer, which I found to be very helpful has been removed because of copy right infringement!!!!!!!!!!! Really. It's a film taken in 1963!!!! I'm going to stop there. Pete
  9. Oh I forgot. Does anyone know where I can get dial transfers for the cab gauges? Have been looking but to no avail. Thanks Pete
  10. Happy new year to one and all. Progress has been made on the chassis with all the bits fitted/ready for primer. The injector didn't look right. Sorry about the focus. So with a bit of cutting off and a bit of drilling, that's better. And now in situ. It will be removed before painting as I want the copper pipes as is. Now all cleaned and ready for paint. A look though my pics/online pics and instructions just to make sure, Oh, hadn't noticed that!!!!! The rear sand pipes have stays fitted. No mention of stays in instructions and none in kit, so I checked the front ones and couldn't find any pics/drawings showing any stays. What I did notice was that the front sand pipes go behind the brake shoes and not in front, as shown in instructions. I have a copy of "From Nine Elms To Waterloo" (one of my building Bibles) and on page 3 there is a pic of 54 taken in 1908 and below 53 taken in 1946/47. 54 shows the sand pipe in front of the brake shoes, with 53 showing them behind. I guess over the years they were rerouted, who knows, anyway an easy fix. So set about making a couple of stays. I annealed the end of an 8mm brass rod, then squeezed in a vice. Drilled an 8mm hole and bent into shape. Then soldered into place. A reroute of the front sand pipes Now I think it's primer time Pete
  11. Hi Steph Thanks for the above. The two gauges. There is a pipe from the bottom of the regulator operating cyl which goes into a valve at the top front of the tank, another pipe out of the valve then goes along the tank and into the cab. This valve is missing from your model. So maybe this pipe goes to the left gauge. The Westinghouse line pressure goes via the auxiliary reservoir I guess. I am unable to find any pics of the under side, and only a couple of the cab. It would seem that the only pics people want to take are of the loco it's self and not the unseen detail. There are a couple of books (which are mentioned in the instructions) I want to see, but it would seem they are only available at the British library. Maybe a day out in London is required. Pete
  12. Yay at last I have something to go on re the cab layout push/pull. Got to say thank you to the Finney boys, Steph for the pictures and Richard for zapping them over to me. The 4mm belongs to Steph the other he took at an exhibition but he doesn't know who it belongs too. ( Steph said that the cab interior colour for most Eastleigh locos was ochre, not cream) The set up is I guess as close as I'm going to get. Notice the two gauges. I think it's self explanatory, and if anyone out there can add to this then speak out. I have to say Heath Robinson or what!!!!!!! Pete
  13. Hi Rob No I don't sorry. The one in the kit for the M7 was incorrect, so he sent me another, unfortunately it was the same one. So when he checked he agreed with me that it was wrongly packaged. He had to get on to his supplier to have some of the correct ones cast. It was sent to me with just a comp slip. I gave the second incorrect one back to Laurie last weekend at Reading. So if you mention me he might remember which one he sent me. I think it's the only two piece pump he does. See pic Sorry I can't be any more help. It's annoying he doesn't have a phone number. Just e-mail him with the story above I guess. Good luck Pete
  14. Hi all YAY The firebox has arrived. I picked it up from Dave last weekend at the Reading trade show. Got to say WHAT AN IMPROVMENT. All seems to fit, although the wash out plugs lack a bit of definition but a sharp scalpel to slightly enlarge the holes and I think it's a gooden. As you can see it's got some meat on it and apart from the fore mentioned wash out plugs the detailing is very good. Nice one Dave Thing is I've got to finish my M7 before I can get back to Her Ladyship, so I'd better get my finger out cause I soooo want to get back with her. Pete
