  1. Happy new year to you all!

A new year means new modelling challenges! I’ve still got to finish my diorama... :good:

Happy new year to you and all.

  2. I’ve just spotted an article on Rail Advent where the A1 Tornado is written as ‘ex-LNER’. That would make sense if the loco was that old, but Tornado never ran for the LNER because it is way too new. How can it be ‘ex-LNER’ if the LNER never had the loco?

It would make sense if the design was what was ex-LNER.

Classic example of why I don't bother with Rail Advent!  It shouldn't be ex-LNER - its to an LNER design, but cannot be ex or former LNER as it never was.

  3. There’s a BR52 Kreigslok in the Nene Valley Railway, and another in Bressingham steam museum. These are some of the biggest locomotives I’ve ever seen.

How did they even get here??

I’m more talking about who owns them and how did they get them out of Europe and onto British iron.

Steam in West Germany lasted a decade after the UK - if you wanted a straight out of service steam loco in the 70's, you bought it from DB. The Nene Valley had a number of continental locos and some stock, and there was IIRC an 01 pacific in the Carnforth collection at one time.

  4. It’s only the 1st of December and the E4 is already festive!

It’s just a bit of fun. It looks like the loco in Swindon now.

plus it’s a temporary fix made of pipe cleaners, so I can agree it doesn’t look the best.

Its good, I wonder if it might be worth starting a "Festive Locos" thread in Modelling musings & miscellany?

      Good idea.
I gave my E4 sparkles because it’s quite a special loco to me, plus the loco has been in a box for the past month so I thought it was best to bring it out for a bit.

  5. It’s nearly a whole wagon

does anyone know what it used to be attached to?

You need to be a Gold member to create your own gallery.

  7. The 0-4-0 Electro-Shunter is nearing completion...

it’s too small to carry its own power, so a coach has been made to carry the Remote Control receiver and battery box.

      Fair enough.

i used to just use the classic XD whenever something was funny

  9. I noticed how people sign their replies to topics and blogs with a name.

I think I’ll do that too.

Andy P once referred to me as ‘PT14’ which I quite like the sound of.

  14. I’ve figured out how to lift the cab from the castle without breaking it!

I’ve only taken it off to put it back on again though XD

  16. A locomotive I’d like to acquire one day is one of my namesake:

    a 64xx pannier tank.

However, when I first saw my first proper pannier tank at the Avon Valley Railway I only knew it as ‘Duck’ :)

  17. One of my plans is to build at least one steam locomotive to a 1970s state as if steam was not removed in the 60s. I was probably going to use a Jinty and paint it BR blue like an 08, with wasp stripes and everything....

but now I’ve seen a 9F and an A3 in the colour!

  18. A test.

I just realised that it is going to be priced at £900......

my ‘Buy Second Hand’ rule will come in handy!

  20. The E4 testing the tracks. The surrounding card is representing the backboard which will hold up the buildings when I build them...

I don’t know who built this engine but they certainly did a good job

  21. The track is stuck down to the board. The Next stop is figuring out how to fit the inset track. I’m using the tutorial in a BRM magazine from a few years ago to create it. So far so good.

  22. A couple of sleepers...
