Not sure why. Some of the current SLW class 24s have detail errors. Cab vents on the first blue one, no headboard clips on the first green one.

You are still being extremely dismissive PMP? I have been to Warley every year for years and have spoken to Peco on many occasions. I appreciate how swampled they can get at times and I also appreciate that they don't know me from Adam (as you clearly don't either). What's your relevant experience that gives you such authority? The 'irony' of your own 'fact free' contributions hasn't been missed.

I really sometimes wonder why small manufacturers bother, I really do. Judith edge post a picture of thier latest and within days people loose interest and start clammering for what they should do next. Why can't we take a moment to look at what's happening now rather than constantly obsessing about the future?
-
It's based on years of experience of being the 'other side' of the barrier although in a different market. Try not to be so dismissive
-
Not really. Manufacturers tend to be very busy and bombarded by 'ideas' at large shows. There's a huge likelyhood any message would be lost as soon as the next person talks to them. Plus (not saying peco would do this) it's very easy to fob someone off when they are really busy.

These guys say they just used the packaging the loco came in. http://www.p4newstreet.com/uh-oh-hes-got-distracted-again.html

Kernow Model Rail Centre to produce GWR 1361 0-6-0 Saddle Tank
UMinion replied to Andy Y's topic in Kernow Model Rail Centre
You use a simple jig. It's hardly rocket science. I am slightly amused that Dave has done a fantastic job of convincing many of us that it's an insurmountable problem that doesn't actually exist. -
Loads of people do commission models they want for their own layout. Peterborough north is a fine example of this approach.
-
This one is a bit different though it appears as Dave said in his opening post "Please note that i have 'taken a flyer' and the model is now in cad/cam stage and i am really hoping that this is completed so i can get 3D resin prints on display at the upcoming Warley 2017 show (no promises though)." So the cads already started, meaning the research has been done, meaning the discussion on what diagram Dave should do is irrelevant as it's already been researched and cad started! Perhaps we should focus on what scale he should do instead (n gauge please )

Grain tipper lorries in 4mm OO gauge
UMinion replied to Ben04uk's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Is one of these a starting point? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATLAS-EDITIONS-DIECAST-AEC-ERGOMATIC-6-TIPPER-LORRY-EDDIE-STOBART-1-76-NEW/401420467984?epid=1610906201&hash=item5d76863f10:g:g6cAAOSwNd9Z22d0 -
I believe there is a minimum weight for car and driver. The cars do have ballast weights if the combination is too light.
-
True but don't they say you shouldn't feed the troll? Edit - Is great western the same whinger? It was a perfectly valid opinion and a resonable suggestion.
-
How about we all agree that this arguement was stupid the first time and hasn't gained any intelligence behind it since? Consumers in every industry have a right to an opinion without producing the product themselves. Saying something like this adds absolutely nothing to the discussion.

Hi Jason. I had a look at the first page as you said. I could see 2 threads like you describe. Not really "virtually every thread" though.
-
Hi Jason I wasn't advocating that Dave stops communicating, just that he communicates via a method that he has more control over. Coopercraft is just one example, there's hundreds of small suppliers who don't have the problem you describe. I think your comparison of DJM to a small supplier is indicative of how many think of them. They are not a small supplier they are a major manufacturer. We should really be looking to realtrack, rapido and Dapol as models if anything with ultimately Hornby, Bachmann and Heljan. It's interesting that people seem to draw comparison with DJM and smaller suppliers or commissioning stores like hattons. I think that's the fundamental problem
-
Hi Dave I know we've discussed this before but if I might offer a suggestion (people are really not going to like this) Your problem is RMweb. There's a very good reason that other manufacturers are so very rarely on it or just send stuff to Mr York to post. With rmweb or any forum for that matter you are not in control. The nature of a forum allows its members to pull and divert your attention to what they are interested in. Basically you've been spread too thin by the members here so as each of us are particularly interested in different things we just see promises on our topic that go unforfilled while you are no doubt responding to someone else demanding your attention. You need to manage rather than be reactionary and to do that you need a platform you can control. I know people are going to hate me with a passion for saying this but the best thing you can do for DJmodels is to withdraw from this forum and conduct everything through your own site.

If you read my post it wasn't really what it was about either. -

How does the effort of designing freelance spashers and tooling up for them compromise to keep the price down? I don't follow. Edit. I'm sorry but I haven't seen any of your modelling efforts either. Doesn't mean I'm going to dismiss your opinion though. -

It does make you wonder just how sycophantic some commentators would be if they actually got a model that was good doesn't it? It might be acceptable to someone but to proclaim it a minuscule miracle when it has a pretty glaring design flaw is a bit OTT. -
Hornby Class 87 - Confirmed Newly Tooled Version for 2017 !
UMinion replied to ThaneofFife's topic in Hornby
Have any DJM spares ever seen the light of day? I took that idea as abandoned long ago. At least Bachmann actually do supply some spares. -
The way it was explained to me at a show is it's relative. The gap between a running rail and a check rail is less than the width of the rail head on the real thing and in S4. In EM and OO it's more. Once it was explained like that it was pretty obvious the difference and I sometimes find it harder to tell the difference between scratchbuilt 00 and EM track. I guess it's all about knowing what to look for?

Why not? Your p2 will look stupid on 3ft radius curves anyway.
