Erm... You know that Windows famously alternates between good and bad versions, don't you? ;-)

XP Good, Vista Bad, 7 Good, 8 Bad, 10 Good...

I wouldn't call it utterly abysmal. What is the problem that made you say so?

  10. Feeling right royally down this evening - I have a call tomorrow to look at some software development, I have a ready made solution to the problem I will be faced with but there is another way to do the same thing and I am attempting to get my head around it.

But can I get it to return even the most simple dataset as it should do - no I cannot, spent two days, seen some progress but not enough.

Sometimes I feel like I am a total failure and my imposter syndrome is banging all the drums it can muster at present to make me feel much worse.

Hopefully, now I've said this out loud I will knuckle down and sort it.

  11. Not quite the burning of The Chancellery this evening , but a close run thing...................

  12. Today I will mostly be soldering

  13. I think I might indulge in some tuneless whistling.

  14. Great Western green, lovely jubbly.

I should be more careful when plucking phrases from the back of my brain!

I now understand the original was a metaphor using fruits to warn about false prophets...

It all sounds very Life of Brian - 'Blessed are the cheesemakers.'

Well, yes, it is that bad! Everything in the world is awful! (You might have noticed...)

I had had a couple of glasses of red wine when I wrote the status update so it was possibly a bit over-dramatic.

What I meant was, it's interesting that you can get insights into someone's character from they way they talk about model railways and tangential topics.

  19. Hmmm, do innocuous posts magically disappear?

  20. Is it 0 Gauge or O Gauge?

  21. A pink blancmange.

  22. At 05.45 local time, on Monday 16 July, 75 years ago, "the gadget" was tested near Alamogordo, New Mexico and the world was never the same again. Niels Bohr said "Now there can be no more war", if only his words came true.

  23. Have you noticed that the targeted advertising from Amazon, eBay , etc. is deeply flawed?

They don't understand the difference between being interested in the GWR (like me for instance) and general interest in railways. So I keep getting offers for books about the Southern or the LMS, or heaven forbid, BR! (Urgh! :wink_mini:

It's like sending an Arsenal supporter offers for Man City merchandise!

I think this is a major failing for modern deep-profiled marketing and it should be sorted out!

  24. Very frustrating - have t redo PW every time then can 'tick' some boxes and enter on the blog but then ... did get a save earlier but then a 'you do  not have permission ' etc.
