  1. I was baffled by the advert I had for about 85% of the period they were running showing Camila Cabello, as not any sort of interest of mine...turned out it was eBay trying to sell me postcards of her...
  2. I have just had an advert for google adword improvements....
  3. I saw them being upgraded in Oxfordshire before they left....8 out of a batch of 10 broke down on the drive to Bristol dock for the boat to Malta....
  4. At work we get these around twice a month for every exhibition we have attended, across two differently named business divisions. It is straight-forward fishing with you being the target. The scammers simply trawl the exhibitor lists and fire off the same type of email to all of them, in the hope someone will pay them for it. we also get paper forms in the post asking us to check details are correct and amend and fax or post back in the enclosed free post envelope back if not so. They all have missing details and small print saying your signature confirms agreement to three years of adverts at 1259 pesos or equivalent per annum, governed by Mexican law.....it would be a cynical git that simply pops back the empty envelope....
  5. I import a lot of similar products for work at a wholesaler. We are seeing many American suppliers struggle with social distancing type requirements in a specific, common, area of their production lines. Many of them having to close their doors for 40+ days as non essential (in some people’s opinion ) and then seeing record demand as everyone is at home hasn’t helped.... That is before you see the knock on effect from their raw materials suppliers own issues.. (no suggestions to a suitable product but some context to your issue)
  6. we run a membership scheme at work. Streamlining renewals from anniversary of joining to fixed calendar years (new joiners pay pro-rata to the end of calendar year) saved 2/3rds of the admin time involved in the whole renewal process. Half the time saving was because we could remind all members simultaneously about renewal via mass email as well as the posted renewal. The other half was because we could batch process all the renewal work rather than a small drip feed all through the year.
  7. DecoArt themselves don’t recommend their product for airbrushes, for the pigment size issues Michael mentions. (It is widely done in the mixed media world, but I would think carefully about the cost of the airbrush before starting).
  8. It’s an import and the importer is responsible for the customs declaration being correct. I would give an honest description and the true value you paid for it. You have proof, if required of the amount paid via your bank statement or Paypal account but I wouldn’t provide anything over what they have asked, just keep it simple. (At work I deal with around 5 commercial imports a week from small parcels to 40’ containers, for each one we provide our own clearance instructions and descriptions to the clearing agent, but normally the value matches the invoices that the supplier gave the carrier). HMRC won’t likely even be aware this has been discussed...they do However enjoy auditing our consignments worth in the tens of thousands for errors...
  9. There is (or was last year and for several years before) one in the Swindon outlet centre outside the Hornby shop.
  10. The other one I have been seeing on work related social media is some local councils had written to shops to be aware of the potential for legionaries in water systems that had unexpectedly been unused for a number of months. Advice from different councils has apparently ranged from simply running them for 10-15 minutes and putting a cap full of bleach into toilet cisterns to full on you should get them tested....
  11. And we are sure there is nothing to worry about if his name is mentioned three times is a row???
  12. The Royal Mail notified us at work a few days ago that prices to the USA are going up, and going up dramatically from July the 1st. This is partly due to usps withdrawing from the international post charge system as part of their politics with China, and partly to cover the higher costs they are incurring in airfreight due to the pandemic.
  13. I find the same auto-corrupt feature on my iPad annoying, especially when browsing Amazon and the like, type in a brand name, up it pops in their auto populate choices...press search and bang it changes giving a pointless search...
  14. Retailers can refuse cash if they choose as they still own the goods. Where it cannot legally be refused if it is offered to settle a “debt”, the classic example being paying a restaurant at the end of the meal for items consumed (Even restaurants could make it clear prior to service that payment is card only as the contract is yet to be formed).
  15. It is a very busy road linking quite a lot of various villages to several industrial estates for commuters (Milton Park, Harwell, Steventon storage etc. To grove, Wantage, Hanney, standford jn the vale, etc) And the other roads are at capacity. A single broken down car on the A417 between Wantage and Harwell in rush hour can cause two hour delays to all the surrounding roads ( and I do literally mean staff finishing at 17:00 on Milton park arriving back in Wantage at 19:00 or later). A34 closures can be worse....my wife travels from Abingdon to didcot on public transport and has resorted to getting a bus to Radley and the train to didcot on the worst occasions. south of the railway line is a very steep slope and would need substantial landscaping for a link road. (there are also some significant private property ownership disputes in progress in the area, and a compulsory purchase order would need them resolved before it could be actioned...)
  16. May be worth reading this recent topic .
  17. That higher shipping cost is up around 40%-60% on February’s prices at the moment depending on routing. Prices are also take it or leave it, not the usual valid for 14-30 days.
  18. The only thing I find annoying with the antex 25w is the plastic cable is very heavy in relation to the iron. You cannot leave the iron on a desk with the cable over the edge as it pulls it off onto your leg or the carpet... you need to buy a separate Spring type stand (the very basic wire loop on a base similar to https://images.app.goo.gl/PdagmxRQY45jQ7Z86 , that came with and worked fine for my original Woolworths iron is no good for them). Both my Woolworths and maplin Temperature controlled iron had to be retired due to non-availability of tips that fitted, so if you find a tip you like I would consider buying a couple of spares to keep in stock.

  20. I received goods sent on a tracked 48 hour service on the 28th, sent on the 14th...a couple of colleagues had the same. i have suspended the work eBay sales because 50% were being chased as not arrived a week (or more) after sending. on the flip side the wife had a second class parcel within 3 days of ordering last week.
  21. Problem with such a high standard of layouts being shown today is I am struggling to get to the traders stands.
  22. The other thing to bear in mind is these grants have been funded by central government, distributed by district councils. Funding is therefore out of general taxation (paye, Corporation tax, VAT, national debt etc. ) and not from local council funds.
  23. Every council is handling it differently. Some paid out the retailer grants within 5 days to all eligible business rate payers, others have forms on their website to download and return for payment within 28 days, and are not promoting businesses to look for them. This is based on a chat amongst shop owners, in the industry I work in, on Facebook. i know from a rates appeal a couple of years ago our local council don’t keep bank details for the direct debits in an unencrypted format, so cannot refund/pay back automatically.
  24. I assume the mail travels in passenger aircraft in normal times and the lack of flights is what is delaying you. I would email the tracking number to the retailer to confirm the return is in progress.
