  1. Suffering from psoriasis I just dab olive oil in my ears twice a week to soften the wax and help it keep moving as nature intended(dr told me it’s either an over the counter treatment at the pharmacy at £8 for 30ml, or a small bottle of olive oil for £2 for £250ml…).
  2. I have lost real interest in this season over the summer, partly due to moving house with a backlog of diy maintenance, and partly because it doesn’t seem sporting with all the controversies around fia decisions.
  3. I would send an email update to Hattons, under the uk customer contract regulations etc. they are responsible for the actions of their appointed delivery agents and and ensuring you receive the goods in due course
  4. Having experience of these type of issues over the last 18 years with a more fragile product I would put money on only the bottom two layers (as hit the deck) being affected and the rest emerging ok. part of the issue there is a fold under tail lift specced for occasional use and a square plastic pallet sized for container shipping. They have different dimensions to a uk standard or euro pallet, and are more awkward on a pump truck. They also have a high centre of gravity as stacked to the maximum container height.
  5. Have you tried power cycling your router, ie. Unplugging all cables for 60 seconds and then reconnecting? They occasionally hold urls in a cache.
  6. The label is likely printed by Hattons and they are responsible for the details. The dpd portal normally starts with a postcode, and then offers a list of addresses, but details can be over-written. They should be able to reprint a pdf copy as they entered to exonerate themselves.
  7. What happened to his involvement in the Red Bull Americas cup team etc? Are they separate legal entity’s, which might explain him being employed as a consultant by potentially at least two companies.
  8. I currently pay by bank transfer on receipt of bill in a property we bought three months ago and not sure how much energy we will use (it has gas powered warm air and water heating and I have always lived in all electric properties). Yesterday I received personal forecasts suggesting anticipated costs of around £2600 per annum combined gas and electric. They also suggested a saving of £200 PA if I switched to direct debit which I have always been sceptical about. I started the process of signing up for a DD(no debt or outstanding bills), to be presented with monthly payments totalling almost £4000 per annum, so bailed out….
  9. During covid, not called in for first 5 days. Day 6 called in and had an induction along with around 14 or 15 others. Sat around for 4 hours reading a book. Escorted down to court room where they rejected one juror. They selected 12 others at random, so I was sent back up to waiting area then told not required day 7. Discharged at end of day 8. Frustrating waste of time as still worked on days not called in, but felt I couldn’t start a couple of large projects as didn’t know when I would be called in.

    On Cats

We started to see Kidney issues with our 15 year old cat in summer last year. We got it under control with a combination of: 1)diet, which is Renal food for wet pouches and a mixture of renal and his old food for dry (he started losing weight when just given renal as not eating enough hence the blend) and occasional tuna. 2) a prescription powder called Porus One that is mixed in with his food. It is effectively microscopic hollow balls that go into the kidneys, absorb the waste products the kidneys are not dealing with and passing into the litter tray. We are also now seeing thyroid issues which are being medicated and possibly operated on in the future, but he is quite happy at the moment,
  11. My understanding was the costs of collecting it in arrears are less than the costs of running the extra warehouse space to collect the fees in advance of delivery. I have heard anecdotal stories that the, carriers are getting quicker to pass unpaid amounts to debt collection quicker than they used to, due to more people not understanding the brexit related changes and trying to ignore them.
  12. pops that into the mental files of how to avoid colleagues distracting me from work…
  13. Frankly given the state of the audit world at the moment, it wouldn’t give me any further faith in the process…
  14. Would make an interesting episode of drive to survive…
  15. With the banning of tyre blankets pending surely all the safety car issues could be resolved by simply getting rid of it, cars to immediately line up on the grid and released per the last timing point…
  16. I was moved from SSE to OVO last year as part of their migration. One feature I did really like in their online portal was that if you entered a meter reading you got a live up to date account balance (not a bill!) around 90 seconds later. Back to SSE in the new property and even with a smart meter back to once a month balance, until I go through the migration to OVO again…
  17. Sorry, yes everything is metered at the lower rate, I was just getting at the uk house often having the two distinct power circuits which has surprised various overseas work contacts in various discussions over the years. (I also previously had a flat which meant overnight washing machine use etc was a no-go due to the neighbours).
  18. I wonder what Helmuts position would be if Mercedes F1 plc had a turnover of £10, whilst Daimler Mercedes provided all the staff, development and materials from other areas of their business on paper….
  19. Don’t overestimate the power drawn by a modern heat pump condenser dryer. Ours only uses around 1kwh to 1.5kwh per load and is only rated at 900 watts…
  20. Simply because the minimum Sky (or NowTV*) costs are more than I am prepared to pay…. *I would pay the NowTV fee if I could stream the whole race at my leisure, but it simply gives access to SkyF1 per the live schedule. (It would also mean suffering Martin Brundles commentary, which I am personally not a fan of)
  21. The economy 7 setup in the uk runs typically midnight to 7 or 8 am (the 7 standing for 7 hours) and is aimed specifically at heating. Typically a house with it will have two separate electrical distribution circuits. One that has all the plug sockets, lights, cooker and shower circuits and is live all the time. It will likely also have a boost circuit for the hot water tank that feeds an element towards the upper half of the tank. There is then an off peak circuit that will only come on in the off peak hours and is controlled by apparatus alongside the meter(s). This will only supply storage heaters and an element towards the bottom of the hot water tank (heating the whole tank, not just top half).
  22. Have you carried out any sort of meter sanity test? I.e. turned off everything at the consumer unit and then opened up one circuit at a time to see if demand is as expected and no hidden devices on the circuit and that it ties in with your spreadsheet forecasts?
  23. Do you have a hot water tank? Does it have a electric element that is kicking in as well as the oil heating?
  24. I have just moved out of a 2 bedroom, 2 adult electric only economy 7 flat. We used around 6000kwh per year. no dishwasher. couple more washing machine cycles. wife lover of deep hot baths daily. we have just moved to a property that uses gas for heating water and air and electricity use has plummeted…
