  1. Hi! There's quite a kink in the track... The locomotive (Skarloey?) gets stuck there. At least when she drives slowly... If I were you (!), I would correct this before continuing to build. Maybe you'll get annoyed later...? Otherwise, have fun and success with your model railway! Best regards, ThomasG
  2. Hello Ian! Enjoy your vacation, I don't mind waiting for the next issue... It makes me very happy that the MMRD exists, especially when you think of Carl Arendt's "sleeping" homepage. I find it very nice and admirable that you do the work and make it available to the community free of charge! If it takes a little longer - so what?! With grateful regards, ThomasG
  3. Hello! In the last few days I've ventured into another self-build. From a small gauge N steam locomotive I made a gauge H0e box steam locomotive. Here a few more pictures from the build: It needed proper weights for good driving characteristics. The whole structure consists of polystyrene, which was then painted. Only the weathering is missing… I wish everyone a nice Easter! Best regards, ThomasG
  4. Hi! There‘s a bit more progress… However, not everything is fixed yet, especially the rail material in the foreground still has to be painted... Best regards, ThomasG
  5. Hi! And again some progress: - Walls and a gate - Ballasting - in one corner a bush Best regards, ThomasG
  6. Hello again! As promised, an update: The rails, etc. were treated in color, designed the level crossings, adjusted the level, and created a floor covering with sandpaper. This received several paint jobs and now forms a good basis. In addition, the small office building was placed a little higher to better camouflage the passage to the Fiddleyard on the left. I added a working manual control lever to the switch. Of course, the color is still missing here... I wish everyone a good start into the new week! Best regards, ThomasG
  7. Hello! How the time flies... A lot has happened here in the meantime, but always in the right order! Another wagon was self-built: A workshop and material wagon was created from unnecessary parts of a small firehouse, more precisely the hose tower…🤪 Only the N gauge bogies are not self-made. I've also made progress with the landscape design, more on that soon... Best regards, ThomasG
  8. Absolutely! That is exactly my opinion... Best regards, ThomasG
  9. …and it’s really great!!! Thanks again for your work! It's an incredible enrichment for anyone who likes micro layouts. Best regards, ThomasG
  10. Hi Matt! You have created a really nice building! In my opinion, whether the building needs a chimney depends on its current and/or previous use. Let's assume that today it is only used as a storage room, but earlier as a workshop - then a chimney is quite plausible... I wish you lots of fun and success with modeling , keep it up! Best regards, ThomasG
  11. Hi Paul! I‘ve only a few words for this: Great, very beautiful and inspiring - but these are all your layouts… Best regards, ThomasG
  12. Hi! It looks very nice! Good job! I might add a little more dried grass. Then, however, rather longer fibers. You can also partially insert these into the existing greens. Keep it up - it's going to be a super micro layout! Best regards, ThomasG
  13. Hello everybody! 😀 @Kevin: Thank you for your comment! ☺️ @All: The last few days I've mainly been busy with my rolling stock, so there's a post about it now... Narrow gauge began to haunt my head many years ago, and it actually started almost exactly a year ago when I got a bargain on Ebay. A starter set (Roco) with a cute little locomotive and two pairs of turntable lorries found its way to me. Well, very nice, but a bit little, isn't it? But what, if there is no offer like in "normal" H0, and/or if you don´t have Money to waste? So build or rebuild yourself: First, an old two-axle vehicle was made narrower and converted to a four-axle vehicle. He used to be brown... Encouraged by the result, I then ventured into a covered wagon, which I converted in the same way... A flat side car followed later, but this was also shortened in length. In the meantime I dared to do more self-construction and created this car. Only the bogies are made of turntable lorries from Roco. The brakeman's platform is also self-made. The last self-construction for the time being is certainly also the most curious: The basis of this car comes from a surprise egg ("Kinder Surprise" in English-speaking countries - as far as I know)... I also bought a passenger car... ...and these two pairs turntable lorries from Minitrains. I hope you like it... Best regards, ThomasG
  14. Hi! 😀 Now the concrete slabs on the goods shed are almost done. All that's missing is a little color fine-tuning. A piece of Depron board was scored and given five color treatments. In the first post you can see something else here - that was a finished product from Busch. But then I didn't like it that much, and I decided to make it myself... In addition, the cobblestone is attached to the left. I also use Depron for leveling. Best regards, ThomasG
  15. Hi! 😀 First of all, thank you very much for the likes and Kevin, Andrew,Ian and Jerry for the nice comments! @Ian: I did NOT make the cobblestones myself, it is from Noch. Here‘s a link: https://www.noch.com/3d-cardboard-sheet-old-town-pavement/56721/ In this case, I just added a little color. I actually usually make it myself, I use foam sheets called "Depron" for this. These are scratched and colored. You can take a look at my other two layouts (see signature). Best regards, ThomasG
  16. Hello everybody!😀 Now I would like to present my latest project here: The new micro layout is limited to the dimensions 60cm x 15cm. This is roughly 2ft x 0.5ft - about a square foot... In addition, there is a fiddle stick on each side to attach. Actually, after building my micro layout, I wanted to continue with my "bigger" branch line terminus, but for several reasons I decided to build this here first. Here I can try out a few things to make them easier to implement there. In addition, I then have the opportunity to use my H0e rolling stock on a well-designed layout during construction. For standard gauge rolling stock I already have the Inglenook layout and the micro layout... Shown is an operating point of a fictional small narrow-gauge railway, on which mainly different goods are transported - including wood from the forest. For the buildings I only used free Scalescenes kits, whereby I more or less modified two of them on the PC. The background is self-painted. the lower edge is later to be covered by fences and plants. general overview... I built this small shelter on the basis of the "Coal office". I hope you like what is shown, and I wish you a nice evening and a good start into the new week! Best regards, ThomasG
  17. Hi again Mark! Thank you for your kind words! Very nice! I wish you a successful house move! Although I prefer to get to know new layouts in the "Micro Model Railway Dispatch" that I don't know from the forum yet, I would be very happy to find this layout there! But I'm patient, take the time you need... Best regards, ThomasG
  18. Hi! This is a beautiful layout! Even if a single track would not be enough for me personally, you have created one of the best layouts I know. The many small lovingly arranged details, the designing of landscape and especially the transition to the background are just great! Pictures that you like to look at again and again... This great little layout would also go well in the "Micro Model Railway Dispatch", don't you think? I wish you lots of fun with it and a lot of joy and success with the model railway! Best regards, ThomasG
  19. Hi! I like your layout very much, it turned out very beautiful! ... but I (!) would attach some kind of fall protection to the fiddlestick. I wish you a lot of fun and success with your layout! Best regards, ThomasG
  20. Hi! Hopefully not much is damaged! Always stupid when something like that happens… Best regards, ThomasG
  21. Probably yes, but I'm not familiar with the British (signal-) standard - I'm from Germany. However, I (!) Believe that it is not necessary to move the loop outside. I am not sure what would be gained from that. In order to bypass a passenger train and shunt freight cars, the Fiddleyard must of course still be included. Regards, ThomasG
  22. Hi Patrick! First of all, I would like to mention that I really like your illustration! The track plan is a good basis and allows a lot of possibilities and fun. However, I would have one suggestion: You could move the switch in the foreground to the left (so also the cattledock), but otherwise leave its track as it is. The whole thing about 20cm / 8 inches, so that the switch comes directly after the bridge. Then you can connect the goods shed to the middle track. The length of your tracks remains exactly the same, but the middle track then has a loading and unloading point. In addition, there is another space next to the cattledock. For example for a coal bunker. I am very curious to see how things will continue here, have fun and success with the implementation! Best regards, ThomasG
  23. Hello TechnicArrow! I like your micro-layout very much! Your uncouplers are very nice (I also use self-constructed ones ...), but I particularly like the small new office building. I wish you a lot of fun and success with your layout! Best regards, ThomasG
  24. Hello Mike! That looks really great! You can already guess that this will be an extremely beautiful layout. Keep up the good work, I wish you continued fun and success with your model railway! Best regards, ThomasG
  25. Hi Nathaniel! Very nice, I like it! You’ve really created something very beautiful. Keep it up! However, I have a little suggestion for you: The brickwork and roofs of the stone buildings are almost the same color. It may be that this is actually the case with real buildings, but maybe it would be nicer if the color of the roofs was a little more different from the rest. Could be a lot darker, for example... I wish you a lot of fun and success with your layout! Best regards, ThomasG
