Coal Tank replied to Jol Wilkinson's topic in Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding
Hi Jol, Mike Williams recently mentioned the coal plate on LNWR tenders . He mentioned that with coal rails the tender shouldnt be fitted with the curved coal plate.Have you any thoughts on this Jol John -
Hi Chris, Thank you for that, the loco is powered aswell as the tender.i like the idea of the engine being powered and doing the work but the single wheeler Just need a bit of help. All a bit trial and error, I Will Just have to see how it goes.

Years ago I happened to work in a chaps house who worked on sets in the theatre. He said to me that there is a difference between what is real and what looks real.

Also I am trying to motorise the tender of the Lady of the Lake. This is a trial and error thing to see if I can get the engine to pull bigger trains.

I have Just started the tender for the A class, the Lady of the Lake and the Jumbo are almost ready for painting so I am moving on with this engine

Hi Mike, if you do etches for the 12 wheeler Will they be available John -
Hi, I started this Jumbo years ago at Expo EM when Penlan was on show. For some reason I Just couldnt get it running that well..... So I had a spare set of etches for a jumbo so I made up a new chassis and it runs beautifully. Then I had a look at the body etches and.............. Well. .........

I have done the operating rods for the drain cocks. I didnt use the etched part in the kit as it seemed to be a bit on the big side. I do feel how ever that these may be quite delicate. They need a bit of cleaning up.
