  1. Hi Fran, thanks for clarifying, and glad to see you're all over it!
  2. Maybe I'm being daft, and apologies if it already been mentioned, but there seems to be an apparent inconsistency in the description and livery artwork on AS website for 37402 "Stephen Middlemore" and 37409 "Lord Hinton" The last line of the description (but before bulleted list of features) for 37402 "Stephen Middlemore" states: Notably though, 37402 was provided with a large Eastfield ‘westie’ logo in the classic position, an embellishment never given to 37409. But then the images for 37409 "Lord Hinton" seem to show it as being present: Just wondering which is correct, the text or the image? And if an error on the livery sample for Lord Hinton, has it been corrected on the production version?
  3. I've been having similar issues as described above with both my CS and TPE sets derailing over Peco Code 100 Pointwork. Unfortunately its hard to check with the back to back gauge I have as it won't slide over the drum for the pickup in the centre of the axle, and certainly can't use it to squeeze the wheels in as I have with other stock previously. Sounds like I need to get some digital callipers so I can check the measurements that way, but based on several comments above reporting the same issue it seems probable that the back to back is the issue. That would be great service. Unfortunately I reported issues with my CS set two and a half weeks ago. After the first couple of responses I received felt like a bit of a rebuff I requested to return the set for exchange, after which I got some replacement bogies. Very simple to swap over, so I was perfectly happy to be sent replacements to swap, and they certainly improved the situation. Unfortunately by removing the most problematic bogies it has now revealed issues on other axles. My TPE set has since arrived with a similar issue which I duly reported and have to receive any response at all. I've also found the 6 coach Aberdeen set to be very draggy, far more so than my TPE set, which was leading to the magnetic coupling parting. I've partially resolved this by lubricating all the axles. The rolling resistance is still fairly high, but at least the couplings don't part, and the Class 92 is more than a match for them! It does seem to me the the rolling resistance increases after the stock has been running for a while, maybe 10mins or so. I was wondering if this could be due to the axles warming up and expanding slightly? But not really sure; has anybody else observed this? I'll be persisting until I get reliable running with both sets, they are head and shoulders the best looking set of coaches on my layout :-)
  4. You might need to reverse one of the individual axles. If you closely look at the back of the wheels you will see one wheel is isolated from the axle and the other wheel. Each bogie has one axle of each polarity, and the other bogie also needs the axles orientated correctly. It might be a bit of trial and error to get right. Hopefully that makes sense. I’ve discovered this when I had to remove a few wheels to try and resolve issues with excessive drag. I eventually discovered I had a few axles where the wheels were askew which caused derailing over points. Having only ever had great response from Accurascale support previously, I have to say I’m disappointed with the response I’ve received to my emails about this, but hopefully we’ll get somewhere on Monday.
  5. Thanks all, a few things to try. Sounds like I need to take Imperium decoder out of the C91 and try that in the DVT. I was just a bit puzzled as when I originally put a Bachmann 21-pin decoder in the C91 F0 worked, it was just the other functions I could not activate (turning off rear lights etc.) With the DVT I get nothing at all.
  6. I picked up my Mk4 DVT last week. Directional lighting worked as expected, but once I put a decoder in there was nothing. I took a 2nd decoder from another loco that I knew to be good and still nothing. When I put the 1st decoder back in the loco that worked fine, and I could also see it had taken the change of address that I made whilst in the DVT. Both decoders are Bachmann 21 pin. I have a Dapol Imperium in the Class 91 (that seemed to be best option to get the full lighting functionality) I guess next option is to try that and then return or contact Hornby, but wondered if anybody else has had similar issues or any other useful suggestions?
  7. Oh Dear, I hope this helps, although unfortunately I suspect it's not the news you were looking for :-(
  8. For people waiting for a response from DPS which email address/method have you used? There is a gmail address for Darrell Marsh at the bottom of the order confirmation email, and I emailed Darrell on that a few times and always got a really quick response - worth a try with this email if you haven't tried that method yet. It took a while for my order to get dispatched but had it a few weeks now, and sympathise for anybody still waiting :-(
  9. I picked up my set of nine from my local model shop on Tuesday. Look fantastic but very draggy with the odd derailment as a result. I set them up on my 'down' line, which does have a relatively tight exit from the fiddle yard then up a short 2% gradient. 6221 (latest version) made it OK as long as she was doing >30-40% speed, but with a certain amount of wheel slip. She ground to a halt if she tried to crawl up slowly. I discovered on about 6 of the 9 coaches there seemed to be one or two sets of wheels that were very resistant, and a couple that barely turned at all. The wheels have recessed holes on the back of them, and I think in some cases the end of the pickups can sometimes catch in these and lock the wheel. In most cases easing the pickups away from the wheels slightly helped (but there is a careful balance between reducing drag and maintaining the electrical contact) and once this was done, 6221 could pull the full rake up the short incline at a slower speed, but still wheel slipping. However the main issue I'm having is on the 2 kitchen cars where no amount of adjusting pickups seems to make a difference, and it seems to me that the wheels have a lot of play and as a result the whole axle is in contact with the underside of the bogie, creating a lot of resistance. Haven't worked out how to resolve yet, but I'll keep fiddling. It would be interesting to know if anybody else has found this and has a solution? Thanks
  10. Apologies if this is a daft question; the DPS/Locomotion/Rails model of the Royal Highland Fusilier seems to have a small hatch/cover above the name to the right of the vent. Could somebody tell me what this is? I may have missed it but I can't see it on any of the other models? I deliberated too long about the Black Watch and missed my chance, but will probably order this one from the DPS as a good alternative, and support a good cause in the process!
  11. I looked into decoder options myself last week, and it seemed to me that to achieve full control of all lighting functions you would need a ESU Lokpilot V5 MKL, and that also needs to be configured for the Hattons model (this last bit courtesy of Charlie at dckits) I asked a zimo supplier about zimo options, and was advised that there is no Zimo decoder that will go FULL lighting control in the Hattons 66 as the model relies on ESU’s custom implementation of the outputs, which differ from all other manufacturers once you get above FA6. In the end I bit the bullet and went for full sound option, as I may want to create double headers with my other sound fitted loco.
