  1. All the very best wishes Jonathan hope all goes Bob on.
  2. Jamie RE vinyl lettering https://www.railtec-models.com/faq.ph could be worth a shout? No association or experience of them but the website sounds positive. places like Fox transfers custom lettering start at £50.00 a fair bit for one off sign. Scale Model Scenery do do some but not sure they do custom though.
  3. Some lovely locos and coaching stock there Tony. In a nice setting too.
  4. Virtual modelling now that’s something we have in common! I’m always planning my next move but time is tight for modelling so I do bits and pieces every now and then.
  5. Bloody marvellous George you are a master at your art. The shadow box looks spot on great stuff.
  6. Can’t find a photo of Torrington viaduct looking back towards Torrington to see how much rock actually showed if any in the steam era! Certainly some on the station side. Found the photo below, got permission from John Cosford to use. All credit to him. Kinda of a similar feel to what I currently have gone for, but remain less than confident it will work out ok!
  7. That was April, then the summer break and here we are all to quickly from a none summer point of view back to nights drawing in and some modelling. Rob Gunstone and a few other contributors to this thread advised get some trains running first don’t concentrate on finishing areas! As seen on previous pages that’s what I‘m going for. That was it tested and ok and left until the last few weeks when I‘ve snatched a few evenings. Then I got the opposite side of the viaduct laid and connected temporary and at last a train running! Not faultless but I’m happy. Now consideration as to what next probably complete the track and a bit of scenery along the way. The Quay board side of the viaduct I’m thinking is none to clever. As the viaduct is based on The Curved Iron one in Barnstaple a building as per those on the bank there call to me but that wouldn’t fit and make a transition to the quay. What is currently there is based on Great Torrington out the tunnel and across the viaduct. Any ideas greatly received! Until next time. Cheers. P.S. Yeah should been something green on the hook but these S&Ds came with the loco an eBay buy Compton Martin pines express set. They might get sprayed green yet!
  8. Enjoyed reading through the article in the latest MRJ Jerry, something nice about seeing it in print rather than on screen. Didn’t realise this layout has been your life’s work! It really is looking splendid.
  9. Lovely work Alex 3 x wonderful little buildings.
  10. Just found this blog Jamie, crazy amount of research and planning you have done. Going to be a fab layout once you have saws at the ready and timber cutting list at the ready! Anymore progress? Cheers Ade
  11. Amazing job on those last 4 steam locos, the 37 as well no doubt but I have no knowledge of those! Just up my alley that used and starting to get grotty look. Fair play to Mike Walton giving you the commission I’m sure he’s very pleased.
  12. Coming along fab Pete the goods shed looks really good.
  13. Hi Pete I see your progressing well from your post on Barnstaple jn. Time for an update here! Was looking splendid. Also reinserting the old photos if you had them would be worthwhile lovely thread this. Cheers Ade
  14. Hi Larry, I used Tony Wrights video https://youtu.be/5a5dwLbFo70 1.30 in. But yes contact adhesive. As for brackets looks likely as on photos but it is recent there is a shadow showing distance off the cladding.
  15. Hi @Physicsman Jeff, I make that 10 months now with no activity! Checking in on you everything ok? No mojo has returned I guess? Not sold it or taken it apart I hope! ? 😄 Still busy processing a zillion megapixel images I suppose nothing wrong in that.. Cheers Ade
  16. Jules bit of a shame for Malmsmead as a long-standing L&B fan I followed with great interest. Would you reinsert the photos before signing away to Cwm-Prysor?. you’ll see many comments of mine on that thread as I’m a great fan of it as well, I did consider it when Tom was selling but was A too far and B more than I could afford! Good luck with it and I look forward to it on the exhibition circuit. You can’t be far from me 200 yards from Radstock north! Do you follow Tom on FB with his Skarloey Railway? The only place he posts I believe but incredible modelling. Cheers Ade
  17. Yes still following shame but good luck on finding a new home. where are you based?
  18. Hallsands is interesting. Stayed in the former hotel seen here. Big white building as below, a great backstory to that I bought the book on it. Never saw it as a railway related inspirational place. See it now though and the Bude canal vibe I get. One of the places in my layout inspiration folder! Good shout that Rob. An example I had saved below. A very atmospheric picture from a misty Bude quay branch, 18th July 1963 and we see N class No. 31844 propelling a brake van along the loop towards the wharf. In the background the gas-woks is visible, a time before natural gas was available and towns would have to generate their own from the burning of coal. T Wright Like I said looking forward to this new layout taking shape.
  19. Ah tuned back in! Looking forward to seeing these ideas play out. Love the inspirational photos and the plonked arrangement of buildings. You always turn these RTP into something rather special. Little Southern engines right up my street.
  20. Looks marvellous Jerry may I ask the source of the levers?
  21. looks mighty fine to me Jon. Interesting to see what the triang BV turns out like.
  22. Proper Realistic that Alex excellent modelling of the highest order.
  23. Way back I built the tunnel that runs out behind the quay. Had no tracksettas then and played it by judging set track curves laid on top the flexi track poor I know but been doing that for a while. Anyway running the West Country through the tunnel once in every 5 times it would derail the front bogie. Applying the set tracker there was an obvious flaw. Nothing for it in pure Tony Wrights guidance get the track running perfectly before scenery. Even read a reference to that today on a thread somewhere! Doing it in stages first bit to tunnel mouth glued 50/50 water Pva.
