  1. A Busy scene at Nussbach station with Ge4/4IIIs 650 and 641 passing whilst Allegra 3508 waits in platform 4 with a branch service.
  2. I run the railway most days but very rarely take any photos, but today I brushed the dust off the camera. Masts are up in this area although you'll have to look hard to see them and even harder to see the wires !!
  3. Yesterday was Nussbach's 3rd birthday, yes 3 years since I layed the frames and stated this build. So I took this footage of where we are now, compare this with the video on page 1 of this thread to see how far things have moved on. https://youtu.be/umO9o0XLUNk?si=mryKuK8cGyNqj9lw
  4. Thanks Peter, I'll check the foam putty out next time I visit my local model shop ( I'm lucky I have a really good model shop in my town) I use copydex to fasten my track down, good stuff it is. On the ballast shoulders in stations the ballast lies fairly flat with the track. Steve
  5. Cheers Keith, that's how I loosely based my station on (Filisur), the bay platform was very much an afterthought but it works well. I have installed a isolation section towards the end of platform 2 so I can run a train to the end of the platform, switch it off then bring an allegra from the opposite direction into the bay. Connecting trains, do you think it'll catch on here......
  6. At the East end of the station is the scissors crossover between the two lines, also the two track loco sidings which hold locos between duties. There is another platform which I have plans for, but you'll have to wait for this one as further development is required for this one. Bonus shot
  7. A subway has been installed to allow access from platforms 1 & 2 to platforms 3 &4 as the H&S police wouldn't allow passengers to cross the main running lines, especially as some trains pass through non stop.
  8. Over the Xmas period between eating mince pies and Turkey etc, the line was closed to allow construction of Nussbach station, the biggest job was painting the rail sides witch took forever and was the most mind numbing job ever, however after this was completed the platforms and station building were put in place. Bay platform 1 is long enough to accommodate an Allegra unit working a shuttle service, also a barrow crossing has been installed at this end.
  9. Pictures from todays running session. Allegra, 3508 exits Atlas tunnel with a local service to Nussbach
  10. Nice clip Keith, trees look great as well.
  11. Have a look at my thread, Nussbach, n gauge, multilevel, tunnels, bridges, dc operation, it's 8ft by 4ft which is similar size to your measurements
  12. So whilst I got me bridge building head on I did two more, side by side both on curves just to make them nice and easy (not) The only things on the bridge construction that isnt scratch built is the railings, I bought them, too fiddley for scratch building. A pair of GE4/4 II's nos 631 & 632 head the morning freight over the newly constructed bridge. View of the other bridge.
  13. Been busy on the railway over the last couple of weeks. Building bridges, adding more scenery, lots of painting etc Heres the first one going in. Of course its on a curve which makes things more difficult (who designed this railway ) The river needs to be added at a later date.
  14. So after the summer has passed, Ive managed to spend some time in the railway room doing the very fiddley job of fitting the handrails and walkways to the top of the viaduct, after two weeks (on and off) A snap shot from today
  15. Bit more work done on the viaduct. The top walkway with railings and supports underneath, dam fiddley working in this scale. Not fastened down yet, still faffing about.
  16. I got it from a car boot sale in Fakenham, Norfolk last summer £2.50, bargain. Its only a dummy loco, ie the wheels go round but that's it, no motor etc. But it looks good and fits 9mm track. Think it's made by an Italian firm, but I can't remember who, someone on here will know, they make several different types of dummy locos, European and American Steve
  17. Thank you for your kind comments, as Chris says above, the viaduct is between Filisur and Davis. You can quite easily find it on Google maps, just zoom in a bit in that area and there's a little thingy (not sure of the technical name) to click on for pictures etc. You can also cross it on street view by dropping the little man on it. Thanks for the walk info Chris, might try that next time I'm over there.
  18. Last week was this layouts 2nd birthday and things are progressing at a steady pace. This has been mainly a winter project, although it does give me a good train fix throughout the year when I need it. Here Croc 414 heads a birthday special The railings on the bridge are a temp fix to see how things look Whist GE4/4 III heads uphill towards the summit with an Glacier Express service
  19. The other end of the viaduct is intact and trains are running. These smaller arch's are necessary due to a curve at this end with the last arch bridging the line which climbs up towards the bridge. Another shot from other end
  20. The consist you posted is possible, but normally the yellow observation wagons would be sandwiched between the two EW1s. Especially if its a out and back service as the RhB don't tend to couple the observation wagons direct to the loco. Carnt remember why they don't, think it's something to do with the pantograph of the loco and h and s police, sure someone on here will know. Steve
  21. This is a photo of the RhB bridge I was using as a guide. Whilst its not an exact copy (it was never ment to be) it gave me something to work to and to fit into my railway.
  22. Good question Keith. Think it will be two smaller arch's as that part is on a curve and the arch's on the RhB are straight. I will build the landscape up as well so the depth will be much less. Steve
  23. This is the bridge cut out, I also cut the single arch off as I wasnt happy with it. I scribed the stonework into the foamboard using the scriber in the picture. Also I made two bridge sides 10mm wide and 15mm high. So the bridge side's are added and here's the reason why, the track sits on 6mm board and the track is about 8mm high. Photos from google earth show that the rail top is level with the top of the bridge, so creating this trench brings the rail to the top of the bridge. After painting and a bit of weathering it was fitted into the layout. There's still much to do like adding the walkways and railings etc A river will be added underneath in the future
  24. Bridging the gap The center piece to the Nussbach (in me head) is to have a large bridge between the two mountains at the highest point on the railway. Having given it much though and putting it off many times I decided to crack on with it and hope for the best. Here's how I did it. The gap to fill Firstly I drew a plan of the bridge on card and cut it out, many adjustment until I was happy with it. Next I copied the card bridge so that I could now have an identical copy on each side of the foamboard, this prevents the cutting wire from drifting when cutting. Cutting the foamboard using a hot wire cutter, slowly does it. The foam board is 25mm wide, so two pieces width, at this point they are pinned together using cocktail sticks in the waste bits to be cut out.
  25. Thanks for the info Paul, I'll try and edit some of the originals back in. Steve
