  1. Thanks for that Paul. I have admired your plans as inspirational for some time but still searching for something that satisfies my requirements. Keep up the good work..... Kind regards John
  2. Phew at least we haven't the same station building. Wish your wife a happy birthday from this household
  3. Hi Jerry Well dam and blast looking at what you are doing is very similar to what I have been working on for months now lol. Even down to the same goods shed! In the same place on a 4'x1' layout, l will start a thread when I figure out how to post photos on this site. Went out today to buy a copy of the Model Rail mag to check out the track plan might alter mine as not yet fully committed. Will be following with interest and would like to know what station building you will be using? Kind. Regards John.

Fan bloomintastic layout Kev! Words fail me. Up to page 126 and the references to Pendon are more than justified. I've visited that master piece for more than 40 years and have every decade since and yours is equal in almost every scenic department if not better. Would love to see more of the characters that populate the place but relaise at about 3 quid a piece that could cost a fortune. Keep up the good work as its never finished!
  5. I think that the steel factory idea works well otherwise what would you fill that space with given your track layout? Experts have been known to differ however Lol looking forward to seeing how this develops... regards John.
  6. Did enjoy the Monmouth show today some fine examples...

I can’t find rail express anywhere!

  15. This is a cracking layout! As a regular dog walker of the now disused line I think you have captured the topography to a tee! I have a place down the road in Nailsworth that also had a branch line terminus a lot of the buildings still remain although now private dwellings. I would love to model such a prototype and had thought about Tetbury or Nailsworth but alas space is an issue to do it justice as you have done. I will have to content myself for the time being with my fictitious micro. Once again well done. John
  16. Hi Luke I'm employing the neodymium magnets and staples system on my layout. The magnets I use are 4mm dia. X 8mm thick that have a 0.7kg pull which I fit between the sleepers which are drilled and glued into the base board, then ballasted. I get them from first4magnets and a pack of 10 cost about £5 inc p&p. It might be worth checking out their web the part no. I use is F408-10. It might be worth a try with the kadees. Nothing ventured and all that... John
  17. Less is more lol...that said having attended a few shows here I feel that Thornbury are out growing the venue. The quality of layouts was fantastic but a bit more space to view would be welcome. Hope you didn't break the bank at Eileen's, l nearly did on one trader but by the time I had made my mind up and went back it had been sold
  18. Enjoyed seeing the layout this morning runs very well indeed most impressed well done chaps!

  22. Hi Mike Unfortunately due to leaves on the line my current project is way behind schedule and due to my lack of computer knowledge I haven't worked out how to post photos on this site! But once I got to grips with it all there will be no stopping me. Hoping to get some modelling time in over the next few weeks I will keep you posted. Regards John
  23. I agree with all of the above comments, yes how many superb models are let down by the back scene and it is indeed a sod of a job to get right. The one thing I find most annoying is poorly fitting and tatty bits of card that seem to have been stuck on as an after thought. For my current project I will be using the less is more principal for the back scene and should it turn out looking like it's been edited out then so be it, at least it won't be a perspective nightmare! John
