  1. Would you sell the Cawood containers separately? If you did, I’d be tempted to buy a three pack of British Fuels, and swap out the BF containers for Cawoods to make a 21 rake. I know I said 18 was a good rake, but 21 would be even better! 66738
  2. Oh Lord! The sensible thing would be to sell them now, but it is a gamble. What if a new one doesn’t appear? It’s taken quite some time to build up my numbers. Red frames have not been easy to come by. A dilemma. 66738
  3. No! Please not the HAA! It would cripple me financially replacing all my later version ones. 66738
  4. Both Cawood packs ordered. An 18 wagon rake is just about right. 66738
  5. And is fairly difficult to get hold of now. It took some finding. As was my 56082 and 56013. There is the demand out there for 1980’s/90’s Blue and Grey and Hornby do seem to take their time drip feeding that era models to us. The class 31 is woefully short of examples out there. No 31/4 in Blue, and Mainline intercity. No refurbished 31/1/2/3 in Blue, and Railfreight (non red stipe). I feel like a stuck record the amount of times I’ve mentioned it on here and to Hornby at shows. 66738
  6. It was the 118’s to Heaton alongside 116’s and 119’s that I wasn’t aware of. Everyday is a school day. 66738
  7. Great photos highlighting the differences between the Dapol and Bachmann 121’s. Just to be fair to Dapols example, it too has the speedo cable but it’s comes in a bag with the other pipes for the customer to fit. I really do like the new Bachmann 121, but my Dapol 55026 will look at home with the Dapol 122 on my forthcoming Western Region layout. I will stick with them. The 117 is absolutely glorious, and I fully intended on getting one upon release, but Covid has come along and swiped all overtime into the bin. None to be had at all. Will have to wait a while before I can save up enough! 66738
  8. Looking in my Ian Allen ABC Multiple Unit book Printed Late Dec 1986, there were no 117’s allocated to Tysley and only 2 118 DMBS vehicles (M51308/9), 2 118 DMS vehicles (M51323/24) and 2 118 TC(L)/TS(L) vehicles (M59475/6). Looking at 1988’s book Printed 2nd January 1988, all the above 6 118 vehicles had moved on to Heaton. 118 vehicles new to Tysley were DMBS 51314/6, DMS 51329/31 and TS(L) 59478/81/83. New to Tysley, 117 vehicles were : DMBS 51334/38/39/48/52/53/60/64/65/69/70 and 71. DMS : 51376/80/82/90/94/95/402/06/07/11/12/ and 13. TC(L) or TS(L) : 59492/59500/04/05/09/12/16/17/21 and 22. Just to complete the picture, Bachmann’s Blue and Grey set L426 117 was Allocated Bristol 1984/85. Reading 1986/87 and Tysley 1988. The Blue and Grey 121 55025 was Allocated Laira 1984/85. Reading 1986/87 and Old Oak Common 1988. Hope this information helps. 66738
  9. I hedged my bets and ordered two Bachmann (040 and 022 with different body side designs for variety) and two Heljan (033 and 118). I believe Heljan can rectify the rivets, but short of starting again with the tooling, I am doubtful they can do much about the roof profile. But I’m not giving up on them. They know what is required, and we may get a miracle and see the changes that are desperately needed. Fingers crossed! Otherwise 033 pre order will have to be cancelled and if Bachmann could announce a 45/1, 118 would also be. All those sales that look like they could lose really do add up, and financially it really could be damaging. Damaging enough to bite the bullet and have another go at the tooling? Not sure. Is might be just me, but I really thought in this modern age of laser measuring and CAD designs, it would be more commonplace to get models pretty much spot on. 66738
  10. I’ve heard the Model shop owner/Traintronics man (David I think his name is) became very unwell. 66738
  11. Great bit of film. I’d love a rake of them BOC tankers but a) I haven’t won the lottery yet and b) even if had, I’d rather stick needles in my eyes than put business in the direction of that steel city Girls name model shop! 66738
  12. I’m sorry. I didn’t realise DRS were the sole operator of Caroline. And my mistake regarding the ETS. I’ve seen loads of photos of non ETS locos and even DMU’s hauling and propelling inspection saloons. I didn’t realise Caroline required an ETS locomotive. Blimey! Even the laughing emoji putting me firmly in my place for not knowing that information. We’re not all experts in all areas on here. I wouldn’t dream of laughing at someone else’s innocent/naive error. Give them the correct information yes, but never laugh at them. 66738
  13. I had seen this and a brief bit of hope was quickly dashed as I found out that it wasn’t all that it seemed at first glance. 37025 was only paired with Caroline so they could haul a Network Rail coach 96606 back from Cardiff to Derby RTC. Caroline’s buckeye coming in useful. There was no use of ‘Caz’ in the observation/survey purpose. I would be interested though to know if 37025 and Caroline have worked together on duties that Caroline would normally be used for. 66738
  14. Are you planning on having different wagon numbers in the second run Fran? 66738
  15. Yes, it was a good few years back, so she probably would have been in the opal green. But their partnership did seem to last a long time. Could it possibly take that long to identify fault and put right? Maybe yes. We have had units in the past with intermittent faults, and it’s these type of issues that can be a real pig to sort out. Repair book full of reports about intermittent fault. Fitters comments : NFF or No Fault Found. A rider is eventually sent to ride with you all day, and Murphy’s law, the set is as good as gold. Fitter shrugs shoulders and can’t fault it. The next day, when there is no rider, the unit could be an absolute nightmare, throwing fault up repeatedly. It feels fantastic when the unit does play ball, throws the fault up, the fitter sees what’s happening and has a good idea what could be causing it. Hurrah! 66738
  16. It was/is a no brainier. Large layout, small layout or even diorama. Paired with a 37 (or 33 or 73 if modelling 80’s/90’s), you have a whole train consist that fits anyone’s layout. 66738
  17. A few years ago, she spent a lot of time with 423. I think it was mentioned that 423 was having low power issues or something along them lines. Couldn’t be trusted with anything taxing. Utilising 423 with Caroline was perfect while they could diagnose the fault. Anyway, we’ll done RevolutioN. I hope you do very well with her. 66738
  18. Yes just the one bulb on 059, but on mine there is only the blind to light. The lower marker light tunnel has been severed as the lower markers were no longer used. I have a second bulb (red) up at the blinds, so it illuminates the white blanks in the blind red (well red/pink) when in reverse. 66738
  19. I did a bit of rewiring on mine to simulate the blinds. It’s not perfect but it does the job. 66738
  20. It’s a fiddly job. Suffice to say, they are no longer sprung buffers. It’s no big deal for me. They look right, and that’s all that matters to me. 66738
  21. My 121 55026 didn’t but both my 122’s did. I couldn’t wait to get rid of that stag and oval buffers on 55026. Looks a lot better now.
  22. Easy on the eye isn’t she! I wonder if Hornby adverts appear on women’s fashion sites? 66738
  23. I am having the same dilemma. Normally I’m pretty good at knowing what I want but I’m really struggling with this decision. 66738
  24. As others have quite rightly said, I can’t understand the thought process that went into deciding that the WCRC 33 would be weathered. 99% of the time, their locos are very nicely turned out. If it had been produced as pristine, that model would have done very well. Not sure how it will sell as weathered. Some weathering can be removed with care (like my Bachmann Regional Railways 37). But I’ve not had any dealings with Heljan weathering and I don’t know if that could be easily ‘cleaned up’. 66738
