  1. Here's some more pictures of the "Big Boy"(4014) and the 844 in Ogden, Utah on this sesquicentennial anniversary of the Golden Spike. Wendell Parks Idaho, USA
  2. Paul, I was just fortunate to be here in the Salt Lake City area at this time while working a busy job as a professional truck driver. There are people from not only from across America but from many parts of the world visiting Ogden and Promontory. I am not going to make it to Promontory today(the Golden Spike event is sold out), but at least I got to see 4014 and 844 in Ogden. Wendell Idaho, USA
  3. I really love this picture, Mike! It is so colorful with those Armour Yellow passenger cars! Wendell Idaho, USA
  4. These two pictures are my favorite so far. Wendell Idaho, USA
  5. I was in Ogden, Utah this afternoon. Here are some pictures of Union Pacific's 844 and 4014 steam locomotives. Wendell Idaho, USA

  8. Here's another picture of a Union Pacific Railroad locomotive switching cars off of the Alaska Railroad barge at Harbor Island in Seattle. The barge had arrived from Whittier, Alaska. The iconic Space Needle is in the background. https://www.railpictures.net/photo/584200/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  9. I would support that wonderful idea! Wendell Idaho, USA
  10. I have never met Jack personally, but I got to communicate with him via the Model Railroad Hobbyist website and this website. I had really enjoyed seeing his wonderful small/micro layout examples on the Internet and in a Carl Arendt book. Jack Trollope was a great inspiration and will be missed by a lot of model railroad hobbyists. Wendell Idaho, USA
  11. 298, you have a nice, Pacific Northwest layout. Keep up the good work! Wendell Idaho, USA
  12. Hey Rob, it is good to see that you are involved with model railroading once again. I had really enjoyed seeing and reading about your former HO scale Tilley Yard South layout. About "getting on with it" and "life is short", this is one of the main reasons why I love small/micro layouts that are within sixteen(16) square feet. https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/30394 Wendell Idaho, USA
  13. Here's a picture of a Metrolink commuter train in Chatsworth, California. The train is going through a tunnel at Santa Susana Pass. Chatsworth is part of the City of Los Angeles. https://www.railpictures.net/photo/659691/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  14. Two pictures of Washington, DC. In the first picture, a CSX freight train is crossing the Washington Channel. In the second picture, Amtrak's Carolinian is also crossing the channel. The Washington Monument is in the background. Washington, DC is famous for having a vast amount of cherry blossom trees. https://www.railpictures.net/photo/608471/ https://www.railpictures.net/photo/579742/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  15. Two pictures of the San Francisco Cable Cars. The first picture features the Transamerica Pyramid building and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in the background. The second picture has the world-renowned Alcatraz Island in the background. https://www.railpictures.net/photo/654440/ https://www.railpictures.net/photo/693715/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  16. Here's a 1980 picture of the Seaboard Coast Line train in Montezuma, Georgia. The train is running down Cherry Street. Montezuma is about 110 miles(176 kilometers) south of Atlanta via the Interstate 75(I-75) freeway. https://www.railpictures.net/photo/444271/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  17. Here's a 1978 picture of the Milwaukee Road in New Albany, Indiana. The train is running down Fifteenth(15th) Street. This track was owned by the Monon Railroad(now Canadian Pacific Railway) decades ago. New Albany is across the Ohio River(Indiana/Kentucky border) from Louisville, Kentucky. https://www.railpictures.net/photo/695021/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  18. Good plan for a freelanced layout, John. I like how you tied the layout plan to history and geography. Wendell Idaho, USA
  19. Here's a couple of pictures of the KC Streetcar in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The train is running down Main Street. https://www.railpictures.net/photo/597909/ https://www.railpictures.net/photo/598004/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  20. Here is another picture of the Union Pacific in Rockford, Illinois. The freight train is running down Madison Street. https://www.railpictures.net/photo/676531/ Wendell Idaho, USA
  21. I like this "Reverse Inglenook" plan. This teaches people about car-spotting. I had created a post about car-spotting on a Inglenook layout on the Model Railroad Hobbyist website. Here is my post: https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/30075 Wendell Idaho, USA
  22. If you cannot fit a standard 5-3-3 Inglenook on the size of the board you have, try a 4-3-3 Inglenook with 7 cars. The switching/shunting lead size will still be three cars plus the locomotive. I had built a 4-3-2 Inglenook(six cars) with a switching lead capacity of two cars plus the locomotive. Wendell Idaho, USA
  23. Those are some good track plans. Just add some evergreen pine trees and you will have a nice, Portland-area layout. Wendell Idaho, USA
  24. Here are some more pictures of the Columbia River Gorge. These are pictures of the Union Pacific on the Oregon side of the Columbia. All of these pictures are in the Hood River area. In the first two pictures, the train is next to the Interstate 84(I-84) freeway. Mount Hood is in the background of the third picture. I have traveled through this beautiful area a lot of times(to and from Portland) as a professional truck driver. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/623115/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/593608/ http://www.railpictures.net/photo/488172/ Wendell Idaho, USA
