  1. It now appears that the July date is for a second issue of R3177....and another issue of R3161 possibly with another running number as an "A" variant is being done .....so famine to feast(or glut) in 6 months ???? I wish Hornby would issue a statement and clear this mess up ... Regards Trevor ....
  2. I have just seen on my Hornby trade web site ....R3177.... now delivery to Hornby..moved from 5 March to 5 July 2013...... and R3161 moved from 5 March to 25 March ... I give up ....I am trying to run a business and keep customers informed ....this is just unacceptable ... Regards Trevor ....
  3. Well at long last some 2Bils to sell ...........many boxes of R3162 BR green came tumbling through the shop door today .....the other types are due next week .. Regards Trevor .........
  4. The problem is also that "latest releases" as opposed to brand new tooling, can have old style couplings.... for example ....2012 R3092 LMS 6220 train pack has a loco with with small modern couplings and coaches with large old style tension lock......for a mere RSP of £249.99.....not really good enough ... I should imagine that there will be similar items in the 2013 range ...although I cannot confirm this until I go down to Margate to view this years products .. Regards Trevor ...
  5. I just wish Hornby would address some of the basics....for years we have been waiting for a standardised coupling....it would be so much easier to sell a range of model railway items that actually coupled properly to each other......even within some train packs there are several types of couplings .... get the various types in certain formations and derailments occur ...not a good way of encouraging people into the hobby or to buy more of their product..... come on Hornby "Design Clever" and use the same size coupling throughout the range... Regards Trevor ...
  6. re backscenes ....good old ready mix wallpaper paste works ......Keith if you go back over yours with paste you may find it shrinks back tight ........but best to try an area first ...maybe behind the grain elevator .. Regards Trevor.......
  7. If you want more photos this Flickr link will give you 100s,new and historical some back to 50s & 60s....be warned you could loose days browsing !!!! http://www.flickr.co...s/[email protected]/ there are dozens of sets not just the opening page... Regards Trevor......
  8. Ian, also worth checking the outer rails as they have an area machined out to accept the point blade, and this weakens them and makes them more likely to distort and jam the tie-bar.... I did see one N layout, which had been moved from a cold damp outbuilding into a very hot centrally heated room, the expansion and shrinkage of the boards managed to destroy 37 sets of Peco points........some of them were bowed up from the boards more than 1/2 an inch ...not good! Regards Trevor........
  9. Roundhouse, re- your problems with points etc..... I have come across this problem in the past several times....as you mention it gets worse as the venue heats up,I would check you have enough expansion gaps...I have known points to very slightly bulge and buckle as the rail expansion puts pressure on them,it does not take much .5mm is enough to cause problems..... the buckling will give problems with the turnout throwing cleanly and derailments... Regards Trevor ...
  10. Very nicely done air of decay ........without overdoing it ...... Regards Trevor....
  11. Thank you all for that .......one of those subjects which is quite simple prototype practice to follow but if not done right would stand out like a sore thumb.................. Regards Trevor........
  12. Well done Arthur .....the stock and locos certainly have the right look to them......good to have a simple video of the train rather than a lot of nearly "clever" shots bouncing around the screen... Regards Trevor...
  13. The title says it all....I have been looking around on the net for info, and checking photo dates and seem to come up with the beginning of the 1990s....is this correct.....I don't want any if they post date my period ...as they are a bit noticeable !! Regards Trevor ....
  14. Good find Jack......if only for the list of industry names...... "Piggly-Wiggly" and "Elmer E Frost & Co." just to name two.... no one need struggle for a genuine sounding name now... Regards Trevor....
  15. Unusual way to dry paint on a model......but if it works what the heck Regards Trevor...
