  1. Hello GMRC fans, We are very excited to share the news with you that The Great Model Railway Challenge has been long listed for a National Television Award in 'The Challenge Show' category. The awards are 100% voted for by the public and whilst it's a long shot we'll get through to be shortlisted in this very tough category, we'd be over the moon if we were! If you enjoyed the show, please do vote by following the link below (you can 'skip' the other categories for speed and make sure you leave an email address) Also, if you could spread the word amongst anyone who's been watching the show or enjoyed series 1 or 2, that would be lovely! Get your friends, families, neighbours and colleagues voting! THE VOTE CLOSES AT 11PM ON FRIDAY 25TH OCTOBER so you don't have long - if you're going to vote - do it now! https://www.nationaltvawards.com/vote No matter what happens, we're chuffed that our show has been recognised and is in category with so many great programmes. And it is all down to the talent and enthusiasm of the railway modellers, judges, presenters and sponsors involved and the greater modelling community. Thanks so much! From a very happy Team GMRC at Knickerbockerglory TV
  2. Tune in to the first episode of the new series, FRIDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER AT 8PM ON CHANNEL 5 This year the episodes are an additional 15 minutes longer to allow for even more modelling and more shots of the layouts. We hope you enjoy watching! Please spread the word amongst friends, family and colleagues. All the best, Team GMRC at Knickerbockerglory TV
  3. Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that The Great Model Railway Challenge Series 2 will be airing on Channel 5 on Friday 13th September at 8PM. I hope you'll all be tuning in and encouraging friends, family and colleagues to do so too! Attached is a flyer for the series, please feel free to circulate on social media platforms. All the best, Bryher, Pat, Ben, Daniella & all the rest of Team GMRC
  4. The shooting schedule is still TBC at this point. But filming would likely take place between end of May - start of July next year. Sorry we can't be more specific at this point. Teams would need to be available 3 consecutive days (likely weekdays) during that period and then 4 consecutive subsequent days for the final.
  5. Thank you both for your kind words of encouragement and appreciation! It means a lot to us as a team that the programme is being so warmly received by the modelling community. We've also had plenty of lovely feedback from 'non-modellers' too, which is fantastic. The intention was always to make a programme that had broad appeal and brought the hobby to a wider audience, which I think we've certainly achieved if I can say so myself...! Best, Bryher & Team 'GMRC' PS - I do hope you will both consider having a crack at the trophy for Series 2...! Email: casting@knickerbockerglory.tv
  6. Hello there! We are working through all the emails and will begin making phone calls in the next few weeks. We've had a lot of interest (which is fantastic!) so you will need to be patient whilst we go through them. But rest assured we will be in touch! Thanks, Bryher
  7. Hello RMWeb, Bryher here, Producer/Director of GMRC Series 1. It's been great reading this forum and seeing the (sometimes lively!) debates and discussions about the show. Our team at Knickerbockerglory loved making Series 1 and we always wanted to make a show that celebrated this wonderful hobby, so it's great to hear that modellers have been enjoying watching the series so much. As you may have seen at the end of last week's episode, we are now looking for teams for Series 2. We're looking for enthusiastic teams of 6 who are up for the CHALLENGE and can take the trophy in 2019! We are beginning casting this week and would like to hear from as many potential teams as possible before Christmas! Interested team captains - please send your name, location and phone number to: casting@knickerbockerglory.tv Other useful info you could also send to us: - Any ideas you might have for a layout for the competition - Who are your team and how do you know each other - Photos of layouts made my members of your team Really looking forward to hearing from you and seeing what Series 2 will bring! Best, Bryher & all of Team GMRC at Knickerbockerglory
  8. Hi All, It's great to see our programme has created so much excitement on here! Some of the 'team photos' have really made me smile this afternoon! We are coming towards the end of our casting process and we are keen to make sure we've reached out to as many people involved in the hobby as possible. RMWeb admins have kindly allowed me to post on this thread, which is great because it seems to be the beating heart of the online railway community! There have been many developments since that flyer went into circulation. And I thought I'd take the opportunity to answer a few queries that have been raised on this thread: - Our aim is to bring this beloved hobby to a wider audience and we are working alongside market leader manufacturers, magazines, exhibition organisers and professional modellers to ensure that this programme is authentic and true to the hobby. - We want to showcase the remarkable skills of British model makers and shine a light on the fantastic diorama and layouts usually only appreciated by those involved in the hobby. - The programme aims to show audiences the years of commitment and care that goes into these models whilst also demonstrating that it's a hobby that anyone can take up should they have the interest and that it's accessible to all. - The competition is intended to be friendly and positive, encouraging teams to create something incredible and unique on screen. We as a production team and our manufacturer partners will do all we can to support the teams to create the best models possible in the time allowed. - Filming will take place in Henley in May and June 2018 and competitors would need to commit to filming for at least 3 weekdays filming for the heats and a further 6 days if they successfully progress to the semi final and final. - We will cover costs for teams transportation and accommodation, refreshments, meals etc. And crucially building materials! - This programme has been commissioned by Channel 5 and has nothing to do with any previous model railway programmes. For further information or to discuss any of the above in more detail, please don't hesitate to call me or Daniella on 02087406300 or email bryher@knickerbockerglory.tv or daniella@knickerbockerglory.tv to register your interest. Application deadline is looming! We are going to start signing off teams at the beginning of April. So please don't hesitate to get in touch
