  1. Hi, I couldn't really find a topic to put this question under, so if anyone has any ideas please shout ! I'm building a large layout into which I want to put the Faller Digital roadway system, as standard it is formatted for driving on the right and I want to set it up for English driving on the left whilst still using the Faller satellite positioning system. Has anyone done this ? I would greatly appreciate any input that might assist. The mechanical aspects, i.e. repositioning turnout solenoids, magnet wire tracks etc. are simple enough but I'm wondering about the computer system being able to react to the changes, I have emailed Faller Technical about this but have not had a reply as yet. Shaun Waters.
  2. Thanks Guys, all up and running nicely. Happy New Year shaun
  3. Just received for Christmas this amazing 6 car unit, I'm good with scenery but pretty useless with electronics ! Comes with 0003 address but to give it a new address I'm wondering if I should give both power cars the same address at the same time on the programming track or should I give them separate addresses and then set up a consist ? No mention of programming addresses in the manual that came with it. Sorry to be so dumb ! Shaun.
  4. I am converting a very old Bachmann tin engine shed into a Stobart service depot. I hunted the web for paint in Stobart colours with no real success, all I could find cost about 3 times it's value in postage ! So I made a quick trip to my local HOBBYCRAFT in Banbury and found Revell Aqua Color in Moosgrun for £2.00 and Daler Rowney System 3 Acrylic for £3.50. I have now tried both colours and don't think that anyone could spot where I tried them out. Humbrol Gloss 19 is a very good match for the red. Just thought this might help to save someone the time I wasted looking ! Cheers, Shaun.
  5. Hi Guys, Firstly, thank you all for your help with this, I have ordered some RTI bodies, and am now looking for a chassis to modify to take them, I did look at Base Toys but really want more detail, never mind, I'll keep on looking, there will be something out there ! Cheers, Shaun. Mick, I got fed up with working on my elevator again so started another project to rest my brain a bit ! Typical ! Layout plan is becoming clearer in my mind though...……….
  6. Thank you Phil, strange that Oxford haven't done one, skips are easily obtainable, I've probably got a dozen or so but no lorries ! I'll have a look at the Langley one. Cheers, Shaun.
  7. I have spent ages on the web looking for 00 gauge skip lorries, does anyone know if there are any available anywhere ?
  8. I don't really know how to put this...……..about two years ago I decided that I wanted to build a large model railway layout, I have a building 30ft. X 15ft. and have built baseboards, I have also been collecting gear and now probably have enough to start a shop ! I am good at making things and building stuff ( years of large scale R/C model aircraft ) but find myself really struggling with some of the DCC elements ( I have never been good with electrics and computors ! ), I have a great workshop and excellent facilities and am wondering if there might be someone near to Banbury who would be interested in being involved with the project. I think that I might fall into the category of All the Gear...No Idea ! Any thoughts?
  9. OK guys........... Dooooohhhhh ! So I got out the lighting board I was going to use ( X9871 ) and there are 3 solder points on there ( Ground, Red, and White ) and they are numbered to correspond with the connector on the main board ! Of course I spotted this when I had identified them using the Egyptian method and a small LED. Anyway it's on record if anyone is daft enough to attempt the type of conversion I am doing here ! It's great being new to this, you attempt things that experienced guys wouldn't go anywhere near ( or would know how to do it properly ). I was old when I started this, now I'm a bit older and a bit wiser ! Cheers, Shaun
  10. Hi Guys, Thank you all for your input but this is a real hybrid that I am putting together from bits that probably wouldn't normally go together. I'll just get the multimeter out and cross my fingers ! Many thanks, Shaun.
  11. Hi, I'm new to all this and am wanting to add lights ( head and tail ) to a couple of class 43's. I have attached a pic showing the connection points on the main board, ( this is where the lights seem to be connected on others I have ). Can anyone please identify which connections I should use ? I probably could just mess around with a multimeter but would rather not risk any damage if possible ! Sorry if I've put this in the wrong place ! Shaun Waters.
