  1. I wonder what Vegans will do for food when science discovers that plants feel pain!
  2. Then it will be a Corona-virus. I'll get my coat.
  3. Hi there Clive, I've just read through the latest posts on here and I'm dismayed that you are thinking of leaving this forum. Just because some 'numbnuts dick' who doesn't know the difference between poly cement and superglue feels the need to make crass statements about traditional technology ought to perhaps think that if he paid more attention to traditional technology in the first place, he would know what utter cr*p he was talking. Please hang on in there Clive the whole thing about railway modelling is that it's origins stem from tradition, keep on doing what you are doing.
  4. Just ticking the like button does not do justice to these wonderful pictures and your outstanding modelling skills.
  5. Sad news and my sincere condolences to his family and friends. He was a very talented modeller with a great eye for detail. Hemyock was an inspirational layout. He will be greatly missed.
  6. Such sad news Clive, I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences. Brian.

"This be the evil smelling focsle, and these are some of the evil smelling folks'l be your shipmates" Great comedy! The modern stuff is just shouty, too PC and very NOT funny any more. Rilksy.

Kevin, your photographs are absolutely superb, they show off the quality of your modelling to perfection. I also enjoyed the videos as well, it's nice to see some movement through your beautifully modelled scenes. Keep 'em coming. Brian.
  9. Many thanks to all of you who took the trouble to respond, the information you have provided has not only confirmed what I had been thinking but has given me the wherewithal to understand the principles involved. I think I shall probably invest in a much better quality soldering iron and also pay more attention to the solders and fluxes I use. Once again, thanks to all of you and also to RMWeb for bringing all this knowledge together in one place. Brian (aka Rilksy)
  10. Please can any of you experts out there tell me how long the replaceable tips on a soldering iron should last. I seem to be replacing them quite frequently so I think I am probably doing something wrong. Temperature seems to be a factor so is there a preferred temperature for electrical soldering as opposed to say soldering rails to brass screws at baseboard joins. Sorry if these are stupid questions but as a relative newby to the world of soldering, I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks in advance Rilksy.
