  1. On the subject of these mixed trains, was there any frequency to the tank coming into Mallaig? Thinking from a timetable point of view.
  2. Did the C & O/B.R. ever run a sleeping car service between Glasgow/Callender and Oban especially during the last years of the line? If so what type of sleeping coach was used?
  3. Trying to remove a body of a class 47, 47832 chassis. Any have any tips on removing tough screws from a Bachmann class 47. Feels like 2 screws are starting to strip on the heads. Have been carefully trying WD40 to loosen them. Don't want to have to drill them out.
  4. Hope it goes well. Two small things, please do some models with short nameplates on models for the easy renaming/numbering of models and produce underframe boxes/tanks as spare parts.......
  5. Were would I obtain information on the British Railways paint standard numbers as used by BR on their locomotives during the 80's and 90's? Want info on BR warning yellow, Rail blue, Intercity light grey and Intercity dark grey.
  6. This is great news but will be interested in a MK2c coaches, especially a CK and TSOT for use in Scotland. Out of interest found a 1985 photo of 47461 at Inverness, behind is what looks like a MK2b TSOT, could be wrong.
  7. Mmmmm, the MK2c. Scottish modellers could finally get that CK coach. On the subject of the MK2b TSO, could it be done as a TSOT or is MK2c TSO needed? Stephen.
  8. Good luck to Bachmann with this model. Everyone has there interests, me it’s the Scottish highland line in the late 80’s so just hope for Rail blue, large logo, Intercity and Scotrail versions. Plus please do the water tanks, battery boxes etc as spare parts so it will make it easier to customise models as realistically every model can’t be done. Lastly hoping the exchange rate downunder gets better, the suggested price for a base model is high.
  9. Did any of the Kernow JIA tiger China clay wagons ever make it up to Corpach? Basically would like to know what types of China clay wagons worked over the West Highland Line in the late 80s/early 90s?
  10. There is a 1960’s photo of Ballachulish yard around the goods shed area. There are lots of open wagons with tarps, was that ash heading away or something else? Not my photo.
  11. Anything similar by Bachmann or Hornby? At least you can mix LMS and LNER on rare occasions.
  12. Who has good eyesight? What build is the second coach?
  13. This book good for a 1960’s layout?
  14. Found a photo in the book: “The West Highland Lines” by Robert Robotham, a loco with some empty stock sits at Oban (1960) with some Gresley coaches in the background, my monies on it being the BR TV Train.
  15. Looking for photo's and/or info on whether any exLMS and exLNER coaches were mixed together working over the C&O to Oban (and later on over the WHL) in the 1950's and 60's? Most evidence shows the LMS built coaches sticking to the Oban line and the LNER built coaches running to Fort William.
  16. So after reading these great replies I can bring in pressflo’s into a Ballachulish (1950/60s) style yard for unloading and further transportation to the aluminium smelter but unfortunately no finished aluminium to return? Then I could bring my “modeller licence out” Already have plans for a mixed train. Have seen 2 photo’s goods wagons on the front of Ballachulish trains at Oban. Just wondering if they put them on the front again for the trip from connel?
  17. Saw a photo of 37404 on the down sleeper taken in 1989. Train was 3 aircon MK2’s and 2 MK3 sleepers. Would other coaches be added at Fort William or could just the aircon coaches have gone to Mallaig? Be something different to model.
  18. Apart from the scenic appeal, the aluminia traffic caught my eye. There's no need for a big unloading sight, especially taking up room on a small layout. Was going to run as a separate loaded train and even a Ballachulish version of the "Killin school train" to give extra train's to run.
  19. So could use a Bachmann class 108 possing as a 107?
  20. Did any PRA's with black frames get up to Corpach during the 80's?
  21. Any PFA wagons and containers reach Inverness during the early 90's? Forgive me if my dates out, not totally up on the history of the wagons. Model the late 80's, including abit of the early 90's.
  22. Out of interest did any PFA wagons and containers ever reach Inverness?
  23. Apart from 37669, does anyone know of any Railfreight (old or new colours) apart from the 37/4's that have travelled over the West Highland line anytime up to 1990? Then again departmental grey as well.
