  1. I've only just found this thread and have to say what wonderful models like you I prefer to use card to model in although at the moment in N and HO, I have been tempted by 0-16.5 in the past and having seen this thread it is calling on me to try it again so I have downloaded a couple of your kits and will have a go at them in the next week. I was wondering if the coach kit would possibly fit onto the Peco Coach chassis kit? Mark
  2. I have order two of the books you suggested to me on Sunday at the Perth Green show, would like to thank you for such a trip down memory lane and for the inspiration to have a go at reproducing Outwell depot in N.
  3. Hi It seems to but as the coupler is pressing against a spring so I would guess that it would be pushed forward automatically, as yet I have only done a couple of trix coaches but having had a good look at the Peco coupler pocket I can't see any reason for these MT couplers not to fit they are after all the MT Universal coupler that is used on American stock where there is no direct replacement. I will have a go at a couple of wagons over the weekend and report back (if I can persuade my son from his room I will get him to take some pictures) at least pictures can't be heard
  4. Hi 1128/29 come in basically 4 parts the knuckle, the deflector, the spring and the keeper, The knuckle and the deflector parts have a 'T' bar so on Peco wagons you would remove the rapido coupling and then replace with the MT ones. this way you use the original coupler pocket should you need to go back you can. 1015/16 or 1125's the spring sits inside the coupler and there is no 'T' bar so yes you would need to make them up with the coupler box and remove the one on the Wagon, admittedly if you was to buy the ready built versions of the 1015/16 it would be easier but at the loss of not being reversible. The 1128/29 or even 1130's are a little fiddly to try and hold together I admit but a little patience and good eyesight to see where the springs have gone (them springs are tiny) I find the best way is a tiny amount of superglue in the spring keeper then using tweezers to hold the two coupler parts together into the keeper ease the whole thing into the Peco pocket and then slide the keeper forward until it won't go any more (easier to do than explain) then a dab of superglue at the back of the keeper to just hold it in place and your done. The amount of superglue is tiny so won't stop the rapido couplers being replaced if needs be, why you would want to I not sure exceptHi to sell or P/X the wagon Cheers Mark
  5. Hello I am fairly new to this forum but having read through this thread thought I would put in my tuppence worth if I may I have just switched from N American back to British N so I was grateful to see Dapol had introduced their version of the knuckle coupler So I quickly ordered a bulk pack from that well known Liverpool store (order 17:15 on Monday arrived 11:00 the next day) I quickly clipped them into a GF class 24 and using the micro-train tools checked the trip pin height and coupler height all within allowances. Then realizing I had nothing to couple to I dug out a couple of older Trix BR coaches and using Micro-Train 1129 couplers converted these (now they close couple as well) put this train on my test track (an oval of 10" radius curves and mismash of straights) and away it went no sign of random uncoupling, so I then tried the uncoupling using an Atlas straight with the magnet already fitted and all worked wonderfully. I would say that the springs on the knuckles like the HO Kadee's looks like it will easily come adrift so I dabbed a tiny amount of super glue on the shaft end (old trick when using kadee's years ago), It would of been nice though for there to of been some spare springs on the of chance one or two decided to go walk about. But on the whole I have to say I am highly impressed such an improvement over the rapido thing Just now I have to convert all my Peco stock to knuckle couplers looks like the micro-train 1128/9 couplers may go into short supply Mark
