Afternoon im new to O gauge modelling and I'm planning to build a single line plank. Can I ask what track should I be aiming to use and can you buy wired rail joiners as I'm no good at soldering. Any advice will be fantastic.

Lovely little layout, definitely an inspiration for fellow modellers.

Nice picture Dave, I like the accessories along the running plate. -

Hi Ralf thanks for your comments, I'm thinking of adding a piece of ply with a nice scenic backdrop. This I will do once the diorama is fully completed.
-
The baseboard should be quite sturdy now, nice carpentry.

Afternoon I thought I would share a couple of pictures of a good siding diorama I am working on. I have started to model this as I wanted to build something to show my collection of P Class locomotives. As you can see the diorama is progressing nicely. I still have plenty to add such as static grasses, real coal for my scratchbuilt sleeper coal staithe and numerous little detailed railway and scrap items. Here are a few pictures of my build so far..

Peter you have produced two lovely scenic dioramas. You also have a nice selection of O gauge !ocos and wagons. -
Hi I'm trying to source some oo or 1/76 scale spokes gear wheels as I plan to use them as rusty items on my diorama. If anyone can help that would be great.

That a nicely put together baseboard. Looking forward to seeing more.

The figures from Modelu are really nice. He looks right for the layout. Can I ask Dave do you use enamel or acrylic paints. -

Dave the layout just gets better every time you add little bits of detail such as the safety rail outside the office and the car on the roof. -

Nice weathering on the two wagons Dave. -
The ground work has been slowly taking shape around where the unloading area is and where the wills crane will be situated. The 10p piece is the base for the wills yard crane. I will be adding some plaster to the stone surface so it looks to have a worn look.

Gareth I like your mock up of the industrial buildings.

Nice work Keith, I'm enjoying the modelling of your card building. -
Thanks Steven for replying to my question, most helpful.

With having finished my Wills yard crane kit, I have come to the point where I need to add some wire for the hook. Does anyone on the forum know how I can replicate this please.
-
The wills yard crane kit is finished apart from adding some chain and building a mount for it to sit on. I'm happy with the rusting achieved on the crane. I used a variety of oranges, rusts and dark earth to achieve the desired affect.

Hi Geoff look forward to seeing your cakebox develop.

Morning! Some more work has been happening on the cakebox layout. The stone wall has been painted and weathered. The track and sleeper have been painted up and also weathered. The yard crane has had a primer applied along with a rusty wash. Still need to add some finer details to the cranes weathering.

One Step Forwards and Two Steps Backwoods

Hi Johnny that's a lovely modeller building. I really like the weathered boards and tin plating. -
A small update, the wills yard crane kit has been built and a cost of grey has been added. This will be weathered once dried. A cost of grey has been added to the stone wall.
-
The back of the board will have a low relief workshop with a stone built wall along the right side of the layout. Tomorrow I will be concentrating on weathering the track.
