  1. Thank you for the nice comments, the model has turned out great even though it’s been made into a low relief building. This is the entrance to a workshop which will run the length of the back scene.
  2. Starting to look more like a building now with the sills added and the window openings cut out. Once the windows are fitted the building will transform even further.
  3. Today I have been contracting adding the brick paper to the workshop entrance. Im pleased with the result just some weathering to complete on the entrance.
  4. Hi everyone thanks for pressing the likes button. Some work has commenced on the yard office building, I have used a scalemodelscenery laser cut kit and also a laser cut kit for the coal staithe. Tomorrow the brickwork will be added to the office and hopefully start building the roof section.
  5. Keith thank you for your kind comments, this is a working layout I plan to build and finished without loosing any interest along the way.
  6. Afternoon all. I have started to build a small table top layout called Boxton Yard. The name of the layout is fictitious but the theme of the layout is modelled around a busy coal yard, where coal and other aggregate are being brought in by rail. As you can see the baseboard is complete and the Peco track has been laid. I had to use Hornby track pins which are quite cumbersome but this should hide well once ballasting and weathering is applied. The layout will have a stick which will form the head shunt. I have added a picture of my progress..
  7. The static grass and foliage does start to bring the layout to life.
  8. Karl there is something about black and white pictures. They capture a scene really well, thanks for sharing.
  9. Hi Ian thanks for your reply and help with my query.
  10. Hi I have a Hornby R965 controller with transformer. Can I cut the plug end off that goes into a Hornby r 8206 power track and connect it to a wired track instead.
  11. Karl you have produced a stunning life wharf themed layout. BTW I do like the crane a lot.
  12. Steve this is turning out to be a lovely boxfile build, the oil and grime looks great.
  13. BenHenry this is a beautiful model and I enjoy the article.
  14. Mike I like the way you have made the terraced houses, great modelling.
  15. Mark I like the way the story enraptures the whole scene. Well done mate.
  16. Mark it’s those little detailed touches that bring a layout to life. Nice work as always.
  17. Marc thank you for the kind words, I like building little cameo scenes like this as I find the larger I go to build the more my mind starts racing and you don’t stick to your planned layout. I find it’s a great way to hone one’s modelling skills.
  18. Hi I would like to say a big thank you for everyone who has taken the time to look at my diorama and for pushing the likes button. I know it’s not a layout but it just shows railway modelling can be achieved in a small space.
  19. Wonderful pictures Alex, it’s great to see how the frost has covered the loco.
  20. I have the GWR version from Hattons and she is beautiful, can’t fault these lovely locos.
  21. Alex truly fantastic modelling. The burner draws you towards the warmth.
  22. Morning this is a little diorama I was working on while the first lockdown was in place. The diorama is about a school boy called Timmy who has a fascination for locos and wagons. Timmy on his way to school stops at a siding to watch a GW van being shunted. I have uploaded a couple of pictures of the finished diorama..
  23. They look great but I’m out of my depth with brass etched kits.
