  1. In the 90s when I used to frequent Gainsborough Lea Road we have 150/156s on Doncaster to Peterborough and 141/144 on Sheffield to Lincoln. Unfortunately no one has done the 141.
  2. you're trying to tempt me aren't you..... it is working. Payday is the 28th, probably have worn me down by then lol. What I really want is someone to do a 141.......
  3. I'm actually in Grimsby, we had them fairly frequently on the Sheffield - Cleethorpes via Brigg line. I still remember the screeching noises from the sharp bend at Fish Dock Road. I think Cleethorpes got a bit of variety. GMPTE made it over I believe. My Layout is set in 1991 at Saltfleet/Mablethorpe, on an idea that the East Lincs line survived. Incidentally, when did they change the doors?
  4. My own reference is Eastern Lincolnshire. I started getting interested in railways around 1991, I remember 141s with 4 doors but not the 142s. I think one made it to Cleethorpes, but that was before my 'time' I remember the bus seats before the moulded plastic. You could out bounce the unit if you got the timing right.
  5. Charlie, I'm very happy with that. As I want 2 fitted with sound etc the longer you take the quieter the explosion will be on the savings account thus I won't need to distract the missus. Afraid the orange ones or the skippers rarely made it to the East Coast and the Prov ones are a bit out of my time period of the early 90s. Any idea on a rough estimate so I can be poised like a coiled gazelle?
  6. I'm currently sitting on my hands waiting for the Reggie Rail versions.
  7. When I was between AB and TCB courses I was put into Goxhill to shadow a signaller who was being shadowed, Saturday morning the whole place lit up and every alarm went off with a power failure. We looked at each other and went "uh-oh!"
  8. ...and here is the latest. Christmas and family meant nothing was done for several weeks with the exception of fitting the LEDs to the panel during quiet patches at work. The panel is now fitted, the track circuit relays are in, as they're not installed on the track yet, everything is showing occupied. Not a bad thing really as it allows me to check the indicators as I go. So far I've found one dodgy bit of wiring on the UP, and a faulty LED on the DOWN. A blown LED was noted on 1214B Rev as well. The rest of them will be going in this week. The point detection relays are being wired up for the station point work ready for the outside lines to go on over the Spring/Summer and the Arduino for the motor servos is being written.
  9. Really depends on the location. In my model world, Moss Lane is first wheel replacement, as in when the signals overlap TC is struck it reverts to danger. Sutton Dock uses the same system we have at Immingham West where the signal doesn't revert to danger until the train hits the overlap of the next signal. It was done this way to facilitate propelled shunting movement.
  10. if not for the houses on the Estate I could see Marsh Junc box.
  11. it annoys me that I have to either run a light loco without a tail light or run a train with a tail light in it.... as a signalman it's annoying,
  12. the very same, what was it? Coughs and sneezels spread diezesals
  13. that's a shame, I was expecting to see a Brush type 5....
  14. Switches are in, I need some more red capped and yellow capped knobs for the switches. The resistor board is under construction for the indicator lamps.
  15. The panel arrived yesterday, a day early. The holes have been drilled, the LED holders are in and switches are going in tomorrow. Work has started on the other side of the layout, the second signal box. This was going to be a yard, but I've decided to put Mablethorpe there instead. Still a lot to work on this one. NX Panel with describers and Theddlethorpe PS box. Intermediate box normally switched out but playable with by a 6 year old.
  16. Ran a quick mock up for the MCB LX. The Fiddle yard entrance has been realigned to receive a single line from outside. An additional line has been added to the right, a long siding representing Mablethorpe, capable of accepting as 12 coach train with loco. That's for the "Seaside Specials" all so common 30 years ago. Temp signal box diagram has been made, I'll start drilling the holes for the indicators and switches tomorrow. It will eventually a printed metal panel, but until I stop making alterations this will do.
  17. at the minute a stepper motor, a micro switch is activated bringing the yellow aspect up, a toggle switch gives me a green, although it's all dismantled at the minute.
  18. temporary until I find something better. Not a fan of the train tech stuff, Eckon/Berko are a bit better. Eventual plan is Absolute Aspect stuff
  19. Been a bit of a shift on over the last few weeks, the depot has been removed and re-laid using streamline points. The siding where the 47 is sat in the foreground also acts as a programming track. The depot is getting a hard standing and lights. A pit is being installed on road 1 and a deceased Dapol 56 is being put on a lift as a display. Other work has involved the removal of West Yard point work, the siding will remain with some old wagons on it depicting a dumped scene that was once common on the network. Wagons no longer needed left to rot and rust on a forgotten siding. The old up and down Mablethorpe lines going to the right behind the depot have been rendered obsolete by the garden plan. The up line has been severed pending removal, the down line has been left in and is depicted as "Depot Sidings" on the plan. In reality this joins with the fiddle yard. It's primary use will be to allow me to run in new locos without going outside. The line to the left with the 37 on it is the former line to Tetney Oil Sidings. This is still on the plan, although signed out of use beyond the loco and it's only purpose is getting to the Up Siding. Now I am happy with the track layout, I'm going to lift the points over the next fortnight to enable the fitting of point servos. Then try my hand at scenery, not my best quality as can be seen. However as can be seen with the available track layout, it will mostly be ballast, mud and grass tufts. I also need to straighten the track through the platform. Behind the station 2x DMU sidings have been added. One long enough for a 3 car set and one long enough for a 2 car set.
  20. There has been another slight addition, last one I promise. Really... the diagram is away to be printed as we speak. The Assistant S&T Engineer/signalman wanted to know "Where is my signal box dad?" given he is only 5 he's keen. as the outside line is going to run passed his play house, I'm putting in a couple of sidings and a box that is "open as required" with modified working as he doesn't fully understand headcodes and train describers just yet. So this is the diagram as it stands. With the exception of any mistakes that someone spots in the next 48 hours, the diagram is being printed. additionally, the first two signals are installed. ML225 and ML211 are now in and "working" (working as held at danger as the points aren't feeding their position back yet. Excuse the wires strewn everywhere,
  21. Swinderby is still there, it's the last outpost of mechanical signalling. Lincoln SCC to the East, Doncaster PSB to the west. I relooked at the diagrams I had for West Holmes, there was no U/D prefix, I was struggling to recall where I saw them, it was Gainsborough Trent, all the Up Auto signals were prefixed U. Anyway I've done away with them.
  22. my Hornby HAA's have benefited from metal wheels and one end glued. I've also added 30g weight to each of them. It's my eventual plan to replace them with Accurascale variants over the next couple of years.
