That looks a lovely evening Ade. It's worth sending that image to the rare weather phenomenon department for their sunny weather in Snowdonia files.

Many congratulations! I must ask you though, where did you get those glasses from? I have a GWR pint glass and shot glass from STEAM Swindon, and at the Redditch show this weekend there were two EWS champagne glasses for sale. 😀

      Hi Liam, thanks!

We bought the glasses a couple of years ago from the gift shop at Highley Engine Shed on the Severn Valley Railway. They are modern replicas.

      Cheers, Ade.

Pleased to report I am feeling fine. Just a bit of a bruised feeling to my arm.

We went to a local Chemists for ours. The jab was painless too. Last one I had drew blood.

I`m 69 and got my letter on the 12th Feb. Booked my first jab for the 28th Feb as I was finally  told that it`s  best not to have the vaccine until 28 days after a positive Covid test.

I'm 55 - in SE Wales - with no major health issues.

No word yet on exactly when I might get the chance to book a "jab". I think NHS Wales are starting to work through over 60s and younger people in poor health.

I believe there might also be talk of a possible short term delay to supplies - all of which probably means a bit of a wait for me - fair enough.

A few weeks back, I seem to recall the Westminster government pushing for "jabs around the clock". Quite rightly, Mark Drakeford (Welsh First Minister) was quick to point out why this would be unlikely to be routine in Wales.

(Finite number of "jabs" and people to administer them - potential health & safety issues at night at remote vaccination centres - also, how many people would actually wish to travel some distance to a vaccination centre at night, when there's no public transport?)

As for me, I understand they've been doing "jabs" at a stadium, about 1.5 miles from where I live. (Good call - they also did most of this winter's flu jabs there, as it allowed them to reduce the number of people in doctors' surgeries). If I get offered an appointment there, I'd accept any time of day or night - and probably walk there - but this would not be an option for some people I know.

In case anyone's wondering why I'd walk, the buses that run near my house don't stop anywhere near the stadium - so there's little point in me going by bus. Meanwhile, taxis wouldn't come cheap - so not really a sensible option for me.

Anyway, I could do with the fresh air - and some exercise!

      The Stationmaster

A very nice room and I attended a meeting there a good many years ago when it was still very much heavy with NER history.   I wonder to what extent the hotel might have altered it and the adjoining sub- committee room in order to make it 'more comfortable' for paying guests?  Does it still have all the original pictures and obviously teh original table and chairs will have gone.  But a nice setting for a meal with all that heavy wood panelling etc

Just ran to the door to pick up three parcels being delivered as Mrs W had told me to expect some.

They weren't for us, the courier had misread the address, still no headphones use for today as I am still listening for a thump on the door.

I regard the things as "electronic tags".

Well, that's what a lot of them seem to get used as. How often are the things used to keep track of exactly where people are / what they're doing?

Some people probably wish they could go back to the days when they weren't expected to carry round this box that can be (ab)used to keep track of their every movement.

Others have learnt that this might constitute an independent thought - and that such dissent / insubordination is definitely not allowed.

They are great - never get lost again, replaces a camera, lets you listen to music and you can check prices of stuff on the fly.

Ignore people who say they are awful, they are what you make of them - just don't overspend on them and don't put games on them as they are designed to keep you staring at them and you lose hours - that's what is meant to happen with your trains.

  22. Fire lit, bread baked, now off to do some modelling.

  23. Today I will mostly be fitting fishplates
