  1. The museum is excellent with a good selection of exhibits. Sadly all the steam locomotives were tucked away on shed and with no public access which was a bit disappointing. Lez added another Railway Bear to the collection.
  2. We then rode back up the line to Notchard which is the main station on the line where the museum , cafe and shop is situated. The BBC had been filming on the line for a new TV series hence the snow!
  3. We decided to ride the length of the line down to Lydney Junction
  4. We walked down to Parkend Station and had a leisurely time here taking photos while we awaited our DMU.
  5. Hi Guys, been away to the Forest of Dean for a long weekend in the motorhome. Stayed at a very nice site called Whitemead Forest Park which has great facilities including swimming pool etc. Perfect place to stay as Parkend station is less than half a mile away. We had booked a Steam day rover ticket for Saturday. But sadly all Steam services were banned this weekend due to a lineside fire on Wednesday which involved the fire brigade being called out. So naturally a little disappointed as this was also our first visit to the line. First set of pics show the camp site. Lovely site with reasonable prices on food and drinks. But phone and internet reception outside of the bar and pool area are non existent.
  6. Hi Adrian, my wife is starting a project building a layout in a vintage steam trunk. She has just bought a Quarry Hunslet and the radius of the curve will be a bit tighter than set track 1st radius. I will let you know how she gets on. Cheers, Ade.
  7. No I don’t know who owns it sorry. Cheers, Ade.
  8. We were up at Peak Rail again today as it was the Vintage Bus Rally. It was very busy. My friend Stuart liked the Newcastle bus as he hails from South Shields. Since we were there three weeks ago the concrete base for the new water tower is now in place. Also a new refurbished toilet block is now in place in the station yard. I have taken a couple more photos to show the new narrow gauge line. Motive power was again No15. Cheers, Ade.
  9. I believe you can order left hand or right hand versions of each figure. Cheers , Ade.
  10. They are from Modelu. They are 3D prints of real people. Not cheap at £7.50 each, but I got a great deal on mine. They often have sales with 15% off. Usual disclaimer applies. Cheers, Ade.
  11. Once again not much work being done at Malmesbury station.
  12. The shunter hitches a ride down the yard on the brake van.
  13. Looking forward to coming to the show and seeing the railway too. Cheers, Ade.
  14. Thanks David. I bought them last year at Warley. I have been painting them on and off since then. But it is a job I really have to be in the mood to do I find. Nice to get them all finished. Cheers, Ade.
  15. Meanwhile the Permanent Way gang get on with some work.
  16. “Fag break is over lads” says the station master.
  17. Hi Simon, Micro Sol and Micro Set are must haves in my opinion. Especially Micro Sol when applying a decal over any raised detail on the model. Occasionally some decals are not recommended for use with these so as ever read the instructions first. Cheers, Ade.
  18. Here is a video of the running sample of the new Black Five.
  19. Like the weathering and the layout is really coming along now. Cheers, Ade.
  20. Thanks for the info on RS8. I did not recognise it . Interesting. 👍
  21. Found a nice caravan and motorhome site for the weekend at Rowsley. We spent yesterday walking and today visited Peak Rail for the first time since August 2019. We have spent many happy times there in the past. Pete Waterman’s GWR Prairie was billed as running today earlier this week, but instead there was a change of plan and the Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns 0-4-0 Saddle Tank was on duty instead. Not seen this engine before so not disappointed. Since we last visited a few things have changed. Lights fitted down the station yard and what I suspect will be a water tower is being built at the end of the platform? The narrow gauge railway has really come on. For donkeys years this was a very short length of track. This has now expanded to run around the picnic area and the former side vehicle entrance now closed off. The old bandstand has now gone. I cannot recall if the signal box was there on our last visit? Lots of goods wagons etc still in the yard awaiting restoration. A good photo display of how Rowsley used to look in now housed in a former LMS carriage. Cheers, Ade.
  22. This is a great site if you wish to visit Peak Rail Rowsley. There is a caravan and motorhome site as part of the Grouse & Claret Pub at Rowsley. About 20 mins walk to the station. Nice small site with about 30 pitches, electric hook up and showers and toilets on site. The pub is very nice. Situated next to the Derwent and the former railway viaduct. You can climb up to the viaduct if you are adventurous. £36 a night. If wives are not into railways there is Peak Village shopping centre next door.
