  1. Just been down to the cabin to check on the paintwork. Dried OK. We had been hoping to get away to Egypt over Xmas, but prices have gone crazy since Thomas Cook went bust. Almost £2000 increase per person (!) since last Xmas....so that is not happening. So hopefully I will get some more work done. I would like to get the legs put onto the baseboards once all the walls are painted. Cheers, Ade.
  2. Hi Phil, you might jest but I toying with idea plus maroon toplights to the window frames. Cheers, Ade
  3. I think a rough rule of thumb for O gauge is to find one with a 5 Amp output. Cheers Ade.
  4. Hi Norman, the OO gauge signals are also servo operated. Cheers, Ade.
  5. Hi Andy, the paint was still wet and the light is from the small flood lamp in the room, as it was starting to get dark. The actual finish when dry will be satin. Back scenes are still a long way off... Cheers, Ade.
  6. The cold and wet weather made me retreat to working indoors this weekend. The interior has now got the first coat of cream coloured paint done as of yesterday. Today I made a start on the second coat. The roof at the far end has been done along with the rear wall. The wall in the right of the pic is just first coat. There are some trim parts to fit between the roof and walls to hide the gaps. Cheers, Ade.
  7. Hi Phil, I look forwards to seeing more. Cheers, Ade.
  8. Consider them yours. No idea on postage, sorry. They could collect 9 till 5 from my place of work in Etwall, Derby. Cheers, Ade
  9. 12 brass rails, each 150cm long. Free, just pay the postage. But bear in mind they are quite heavy. Or you can collect. Cheers, Ade.
  10. Hi Rod, I always look forwards to seeing updates and news from Ramchester. Looks like you had a nice operating session. Cheers, Ade.
  11. I am awaiting the sound fitted version which will be delivered in January. I am then going to re-number and respray it into correct the GWR green. Cheers, Ade.
  12. Hi Richard, nice work. It is coming on great. Hi JB, I love the weathering. The representation of the grime and soot is fantastic. Cheers, Ade.
  13. Managed to get a few hours off today and now the shingles are done on the left side up to the apex of the roof. Cheers, Ade.
  14. Hi Simon, nice buys! Cheers, Ade.
  15. Listening to Tarkus by ELP: forgot just how good this track was having not having played it for years...

  16. Hi Phil, you are right there! Hi Andy, some pics as promised. I worked on the cabin from 10am until 2.30pm today as it was fine. Got the barge boards fitted to the right side, then started laying more shingles. The garden is very exposed to wind being roughly North to South orientation and working on the roof it was very cold. By the time I stopped work due to rain, I was chilled to the bone. Had a soak in a hot bath and now having a cup of tea. Cheers, Ade.
  17. Hi Andy, I will add some tomorrow as once again the light beat me. Cheers, Ade.
  18. Did some more on the Cordon last night. I would have liked to have gone to the Reading O gauge trade show today, but given the forecast of dry weather I made the decision to give it a miss and forge on with the cabin. I gave the two long side walls another coat of base coat preservative. So all the exterior walls and doors have now had two coats. (Next job will be to paint them Cream.) I then moved onto fitting the barge boards and trims on the window wall side. This done, I got the first row of roof shingles fitted in place. Feeling knackered but pleased and having a bottle of Merlot now to relax. Going back to interior painting tomorrow as the weather forecast is for rain again... Cheers, Ade.
  19. Hi Zach, welcome to the forum and 7mm modelling. You are a man after my own heart doing GWR. It looks like you are off to a flying start. The wagons look great as does the weathering. I joined the forum just a year ago now and have made some good friends as a result. Cheers, Ade.
  20. My interest in the images comes from working in an auction house. Poor images, lack of images etc can make or break a sale. Cheers, Ade.
  21. I had a guided tour of Hattons last month by manager Richard. The photo set up for the pre owned stuff is most impressive. The items arrive for photography with the box lid open. The photographer places the item in the photo cube light box. The image is shown on a PC screen on which lines are superimposed to guide the photographer how to line up the loco for the picture to be taken. This ensures every image is taken from exactly the same angle. I was most impressed. So having seen this, I would think the pics would have been correct. Cheers, Ade.
