  1. Thanks everyone, and living here in Wales there’s plenty of raw material!
  2. Further progress made, baseboard made and now placing items to see how it looks.
  3. Thanks for the many helpful ideas. I must confess I was hoping for something out of a packet! The good news is that I am building a small layout to go in a Wrapping Paper Box, so will not have to do much hard labour!
  4. Hi there, obviously I want something that looks like compressed slate particles. Any suggestions would be very welcome.
  5. I happened to come across a model shop closing down with a 30% discount on all items. As I had purchased already a Bachmann Hunslet I couldn’t resist. So now I embark on a small layout in a wrapping paper box. It’s going to be a quarry. Today I started the baseboard.
  6. I really like this and am tempted to do something similar. Can you tell me the size of the really useful wrapping box? I think they are in liters aren't they??
  7. Ive just bought a Bachmann 37 in Railfreight livery, very nice but a bit quiet. Can I increase the volume with a Hornby Select controller? Thanks for looking
  8. looks really good. Is it two halves? Could you state the layout measurements?
  9. I've ordered a Bachmann Hunslet and purchased the Scenecraft slate buildings with a view to building a nice small quarry layout. I have a tentative plan and need to start purchasing track. My question is do I buy insulfrog or electrofrog points for such a small wheelbase lcoc? I may fit a chip, but also may stick with DC. Any help will be appreciated.
  10. It seems to good to waste so I’m wondering if this table top measuring 100x60 could feasibly be a baseboard for a quarry 009 layout I’m considering? It’s light and rigid
  11. Morning all. So an impulse pre purchase of the impending Hunslet by Bachmann, and a visit to a closing down model shop saw me leave with a big bag of Scenecraft buildings. I think a quarry layout beckons! So a few questions Can OO buildings be used in this scale? Are there figures available for this scale? Am I right in that Peco do a narrow gauge track system? Hope you can help
  12. Thanks Admiles. I should have been clearer in my original posting. I have the windows but need to refix them. I will see if I can slide the cab up.
  13. Oh dear 3 out of 4 have fallen out! Any suggestions on replacing them? It looks like the cab cant be removed from the body, so how have you managed?
  14. Hi Phil, thanks for the reply and pictures. Looks a really nice layout.
  15. I have purchased (on a series of impulses!) an Ixion Fowler, a Dapol Terrier and an LT Pannier. I have mainly freight stock and want to fill a space of 5x1 feet so i can store it easily. I am happy with hand operated points and want to just have a shuffle round of wagons/vans. I am really enjoying the scale and also venturing into weathering wagons for the first time.
