  1. The LNER and MR Gun Sets Wagons appear to be very popular. Pre-orders for both are sold out for the first batch. We'll be working on a second batch shortly. If you'd like one of the kits, drop us an email to info@niumodels.co.uk Since announcing the wagons a few weeks ago, we've had a few emails from GWR modellers asking about a Gun Sets Wagon for the Western Region. After a bit of research, and a trip to Didcot, we have CAD work for the GWR Pollen-E wagon near complete. Test print is due this weekend. We expect to have the wagon kit ready sale towards the end of October. If you are interested in the kit, drop us an email to info@niumodels.co.uk
  2. The MR Gun Sets wagon kit is now ready. Shown here assembled and painted. Pre-orders will start to go out toward the end of the next week. Kit includes metal gun barrel, resin wagon parts, wheels and couplings. Price £85.00 To order, email - info@niumodels.co.uk
  3. We've been quiet since May, but not idle. We have two new kits available this month. The first is the LNER Gun Sets wagon from the inter-war era. The second is the MR Gun Sets from the WW1 era. Both kits come with metal 15" gun barrels for HMS Vanguard and HMS Queen Elizabeth. Both kits come with resin wagon parts, Metal gun barrels, wheels, couplings and decal. LNER Gun Sets - £90. MR Gun Sets - £85. Limited availability on both. To pre-order, email us at - info@niumodels.co.uk.
  4. Update on the Austerity. Now available with armoured boiler shroud. Full kit is £19.50. To order or for information, email - info@niumodels.co.uk
  5. A few weeks back a customer asked me whether I could make 'what-if' armoured version of the WD Austerity. We started off with the armoured mock-up built by the Vulcan Works in 1943 and bounced around a few ideas based on the German WW2 armoured BR50, 52 & 55 locos. We finally settled on an developing an armoured cab version. Some CAD time later and a test print and this is the result. The kit is designed to fit the Bachmann model and consists of:- Armoured loco cab, armoured tender cab, tender axle box covers, Westinghouse pump cover, front steps and buffer beam snowplough. A bit different, I think you would agree.
  6. Hi, We're just catching up with another batch of Water Tenders, then it back to another batch of U19 & U20 ploughs. Should be early April.
  7. Please to hear you're delighted with the kit. Don't forget to post up a pic of the completed model.
  8. Darlington 1967 - U19 snowploughs No.18 & 20, now painted green and numbered 900572 & 900574, are coupled to a pair of Thornaby Class 25s. Most people associate the U19 snowploughs with the NER or LNER periods, but the ploughs remained in service well into the Diesel era, only being withdrawn in 1973. The models are shown assembled and painted in BR green Livery and lightly weathered, and are accompanied by Class 25's D5176 & D5178, which have also had a light weathering.
  9. Thanks for your feedback. Response in bold. We'll make amendments where required to improve the kit. The instruction sheet illustrates the body colour for the four liveries as brown/oxford blue/black/green, but only on the vertically planked woodwork. The tapered front and horizontally planked part are shown in grey. However the wording of the instructions just refers to "body" as these colours, with blade described as steel for all four and the illustrations above follow the written description rather than the drawings. So the drawings are incorrectly coloured? - It misalignment between the drawing and the text. The whole body should be painted as per the text. Roof is described as white or slate grey, depending on the era. Does this mean only the rounded roof, or also the flat roof to the tapered section too? - Both roof sections should be painted. The illustrations for the BR liveries also show a red rectangle just in front of the top step to the cabin - does this have any significance? - This an error on the drawing. This was a plate fitted in this during this period, but not included on the model. Buffer beams are described as Olive green in the wording, but they (or at least the buffer housings) are illustrated as red. - Another error on the drawing. The buffers should be green as per the text. Do the elongated slots on the blade mean that it could somehow be retracted/extended to be even closer to the rails? - I'll look into this.
  10. I've made some enquires with LU to see if they can locate any drawings of the wagon. Lets see what comes back.
  11. They look interesting. Do you have a date and location on the photos?
  12. A few more photos of our U20 models, Ploughs 23 & 24, now numbered 900577 & 900578, are shown assembled and painted in BR black. Finished with a light weathering and attached to an ex-LMS Mickey Mouse and BR Standard Class 4 locos.
  13. Kirkby Stephen 1956. U20 Snowploughs No. 23 & 24 in BR Livery.
  14. Hoping to move forward on the K5 this year.
  15. Would you have any photos of the Match Truck?
  16. Unarmoured F4 is underway, along with a C17 body. A couple other loco bodies are in development too, but more news on them once the C17 is out.
  17. The final test build of the Coastal Defence Train kit is done, and pics below are of the assembled and painted model. The kit consists of an Armoured F4 body, 2 x Armoured Wagons, 1x 5 Plank Wagon & 1 x 3 Plank Wagon. The kit comes complete with wheels and couplings for the wagons, and requires a Bachmann L&YR 2-4-2 donor chassis for the loco. Price £95.00 It will be available from 23rd Jan, however, as with our other kits, there is already a waiting list. If you're interest in this kit, please email us at info@niumodels.co.uk
  18. A few pics of the assembled and painted U19 plough. Pics of the U20 to follow.
  19. When researching the liveries we came across the same discrepancy. Of the preserved ploughs, Plough 12 in the NRM has the end painted Signal Red, while Plough 18 is Indian Red. The NERA book supports the Plough 12 livery. It would seem logical that the change to brake vans liveries would be replicated on the ploughs. Where is your info source from on this?
  20. A few more photos of our U19 models, Ploughs 18 & 20 are shown assembled and painted in LNER blue. Finished with a light weathering and 3D printed crewman from Hardy's Hobbies., and attached to a pair of Hornby J15 locos.
  21. U19 Snowploughs in LNER Livery.
  22. A quick reminder on this New Years Eve. LNER water tenders kits for Flying Scotsman and Bittern are available. Kits include body, chassis, wheels, couplings and sprung buffers. £40.00 each. to order, email - info@niumodels.co.uk
  23. Following the nose cone kit for Class 86 ‘Zebedee’ and the Prototype Mk3 bogies for the Mk2D coach, we had a request for a conversion kit for the ex WR dynamometer coach WD150192 / Test Car4. WD150192 / Test Car4 was part of the train formation, which also included Mk2D E5625, that was hauled by E3173 ‘Zebedee’ during the 1973 high speed trails on the WCML. This is the first test print of the interior, roof parts and replacement windows. The parts are designed to fit the Hornby Hawksworth R4405 coach. Drop us an email to info@niumodels.co.uk to register your interest in this kit.
