  1. In a rare break from apathy , I actually submitted a comment to one of the consultations, suggesting a link from Curzon Street onto the Duddeston Line as a relatively cheap way of allowing trains to continue to Wolverhampton and other destinations, especially if it were included from the outset and not necessarily connected to all platforms. It would mean a reversal but the two lines cross anyway and it is in an area where speeds are low. Given its simplicity , I would have thought it could work commercially and provide an emergency exit to Curzon Street I received a very general reply which didn't answer the point. I guess the teams are now looking for ideas to remove cost rather than even modest increases, although there was a recent change to include passive provision for an additional link to Liverpool. The original concept also envisaged a link, presumably going in the other direction to allow trains to continue to Bristol, but this didn't seem to make it to the consultation.
  2. I usually take the simple way out and read the input output ratings marked on the item. For people like me you need your best glasses and maybe even a magnifying glass. The ac or dc bit is usually in symbol .ie sine symbol ac, and parallel lines dc. It’s quite rare for this not to be there.
  3. It may prove useful to go old school. 2.33mm is, at a reasonable level of accuracy, 3/32”. This measurement is available on good steel rules.
  4. There are two single post drawings One is a 23' Stop and Distant Signal and the other is an 18' Stop only and both have the wider dimension for 12' above rail level But I guess this may be one of those things where the draftsman's assumption and reality may be different !
  5. Oh and I forgot to add the short answer is 6 1/2 inches diameter for the first 12 feet from rail level followed by 5 1/2 inches diameter. Spindle 12 inches below base of finial. There are loads of other dimensions in the article
  6. Dear Junctionmad Issue 47 of the Great Western Railway Journal has an article with drawings on GWR tubular signals. A quick scan before sending this looks like it will have what you want
