  1. Looking forward to replacing the card low relief factory and working with these laser cut products. Creating something a little more bespoke . The windows will be a vast improvement.
  2. Well it’s been a while… eventually I’ve uploaded many of the lost images and edited this thread. Steve, I suspect the second hand Hornby OAA now has Dapol wheels, I’ll check. There’s some weathering to be done with the arrival of an Oxford Rail Pilchard, .. a Bachmann Winkle, … and a couple of Bachmann ZHVs. And I’m not happy with the low relief factory occupied by Willerby Caravans; time for a change.
  3. Enjoy the Wressle show this weekend and good luck with Diversion, should be easy enough to transport it there; although the train service is similar to Willerbys. The only update from Willerby is the 3 plank ex LMS wagons transferred to the engineers dept now carry the correct TOPS code.
  4. Three wagons await weathering; Two re-paints, a Bachmann ZDA/Bass, a second hand Hornby OAA with new wheels and couplings. …and a Parkside 13t steel ZAV. Plenty more RTR wagons to modify and kits to build to keep me occupied over the winter months.

The class 105 Cravens unit is is up and running again seen here passing under York Lane bridge towards the platform with the late afternoon York to Hull train… … passing the coal siding, leaving the line clear for 20 026 to continue with the goods pick up ….propelling a couple of vans to the loading dock … and then a battened tube wagon into a siding for spot loading.
  6. The works are busy with kit building and some repainting of one or two RTR wagons. The Flangeway ‘shorty’ Salmon, seen here with a Bachmann ZTO and a rather nice Pipe wagon in olive green, proves itself to be an excellent runner It seems the Cravens 2 car unit has failed, as a Class 20 appears from under Great Gutter Lane road bridge with the early morning Hull to York train… … and some Mk1 coaches, that have seen better days. Although allocated to Tinsley, 20 133 is no stranger to Hull Botanic Gardens, the Bridlington line… … and now it seems the south Yorkshire Wolds line, as it pulls slowly out of Willerby .
  7. Definitely! It’ll get a good weathering. And STOP PRESS: The bid to restore the rail route between Hull, Beverley and York has been given the green light by Government Ministers. The bid will receive support from officials at the DfT and funding for 75% of the cost of creating a business case, up to £50,000. Well done at the exhibition

Can’t believe I missed this excellent publication back in January ; It’s arrival has prompted further kit building and a change of use for one or two Bachmann and Parkside ex-revenue wagons; starting with this 13t steel open wagon whilst it waits to be painted, an ‘interesting’ wagon has arrived; A rather nice ‘shorty’ Salmon from Flangeway; on a layout with a small scenic area I’m more than happy with the compromise.
  9. Good to see the York to Hull line feature in Rob Bell’s Walking Britain’s Lost Railways on Channel 5 last Friday. Including a visit to Stamford Bridge station… …. which provided the inspiration for the Station Building at Willerby Interesting to hear the line was actually being invested in, which included colour light signals, before it appeared on Beechings list.
  10. …. It appears one of the many Hull based Class 14 ‘Camels’ has survived another 10 years or so! Purchased by APCM and transferred from Hull Dairycoates to Great Gutter Lane Cement Works in Willerby. and seen here in Willerby sidings with a train of Presflo wagons.

A thank you and an acknowledgment to Lowering the Hornby PCA Davjones Posted January 9, 2016 ‘ Hi I've taken a simpler (and less accurate) approach to reducing the ride height of my Hornby PCA wagons. I replaced the wheel sets with Kadee HO scale 36" code 110 smooth back wheel sets (product code #522). These don't have the 3-hole pattern and are a direct fit albeit with a minimal amount of reaming of the axle box and a dusting of graphite powder. They are smaller in diameter than the equivalent OO scale wheels and reduce the ride height nicely. Kadee wheel sets are also very reasonably priced. They look acceptable to my eye at least when viewed side on’ Agreed

Looking over the wall of Great Gutter Lane, plenty is happening at Willerby, with the arrival of 37 126 with some Hornby 21t hoppers to check out their running ; now with Dapol wheels and Bachmann couplings. Botanic Garden’s allocated 08 248 is sorting out the empties; still awaiting their wire handrails and Railtec transfers to be applied. Later iin the afternoon 37 126 was seen picking up a short train of PCA wagons. Again with Bachmann couplings. The Hornby wheels have since been replaced with Kadee 522 wheels, lowering the height of the wagons.
  13. There has been some progress with the BOCM warehouse siding. The concrete surface is complete, along with an end wall and gate… …. just waiting for a wooden fence at the front and some trees/vegetation behind the wall. BOCM are wasting no time as a selection of Parkside vans have already arrived. And 31 253 manoeuvres a brake van into the siding
  14. 37 105 has arrived in the headshunt at Willerby with some ballast The short train comprises of just two Parkside grampus wagons and a Hornby shark brake van. After a little manoeuvring of the shark, under the watchful eye of the signalman… … 37 105 is now ready to depart in the direction of Hessle yard, with less ballast than it
  15. 026 has arrived with a local freight trip working, seen here manoeuvring its brake van. Followed by 31 253 with a few vans for the BOCM warehouse,… …propelling the vans under York Lane into the BOCM siding.
