  1. Hi Keith, Many thanks for getting back to me. That’s very reassuring, if you are giving it a positive thumbs up. I will continue saving my pennies. I do like the look of it and I would like to get it at some point. thanks again David
  2. Hi, I don’t know if I have posted this in the correct format or procedure. I am/have been very interested in this set. Although the cost has made me a little hesitant and I am still saving up. I currently have the Midland Blue Pullman 30-425 a really nice set and also not cheap. I have had it 3yrs and it has had very little use. Currently It’s at Bachmann for repair due to one of the drive locos being noisy. This is going to incure a cost for me as it looks like it needs a new motor. If I had used it under the warranty period I may have saved myself some money. I have recently read a report from someone who bought the Western Pullman and had noise problems from the loco/s having the motor changed apparently did not solve their problems. As the Western Pullman is based on the Midland Pullman and there seems to be a common problem with noise from the locos, I am a bit concerned about ordering one. Does anyone know of any issues with the Western Pullman? Feedback from members experience with this 30-420 Bachmann Western Pullman would be gratefully appreciated. If I purchase the Western Pullman, I don’t want to have any regrets. David
  3. Hi, Now that you have had the Western Pullman for sometime. I would be very interested in your experience with this set. I currently have The Bachmann Blue Midland set. Which is very nice, but one of the drive locos has developed a noise and looks like the motor needs replacing. I have seen a report from someone else which states that they have had problems with the new Western Pullman, one of which is noisy locos. I am saving for the new Bachmann Western Pullman. But am concerned about possible issues. Possibly you may be able to allay my fears. Any feedback would be appreciated. David

I am waiting to see what it’s like on its return from Bachmann, before deciding on pursuing my interest in the Western Pullman. Your experience is obviously giving me reason to possibly reconsider. Are there any more reports of problems with the Western Pullman.? Feedback from members experience with this 30-420 Bachmann Western Pullman would be gratefully appreciated. David
  5. Hi Mike, I def agree with you, if the loco I had been sent had been checked and was ok, I would have bought it. I have to shop around for the best price. Cant always afford to pay local dealers top prices
  6. Hi Rob, I def sympathise with you, I have just lost all confidence in this model. Im considering getting one of the oder Princess Alexandar models instead.
  7. Hi, I am new to this forum but as I am interested in obtaining the Hornby R3623 Queen Elizabeth. I found Rob from NZ very enlightening. I have seen various negatives on youtube about this with regard to loud clicking, wobbly drive, difficulty running slow and Yes, the missing handrails/grips. Even an ebay seller ajmrailways mentions the missing handrails but also states that his stock was intercepted by Hornby at the Factory and they were retrofitted. With this in mind I contacted Hornby Technical department and asked if they were aware of any of the prementioned issues. I was told that they were not aware of these. But did state that the handrails issue had been rectified. I then contacted an online dealer and asked if they had encountered any problems, they had not. My brother in law in the meanwhile unknown to me had ordered and received the Queen Elizabeth from the same on line dealer. I examined his model and all the hand rails were intact as they should be. I don't know about the running issues because it has to date not been run yet. I thought the model itself looked very nice and was impressed. I therefore ordered one for myself. This arrived Sat 30th March. When I opened it, guess what? the front handrails were missing. I didn't even fully take it out of its plastic ice berg. I phoned the dealer told him the problem, he sent me a return slip by e mail and I sent it back the same day. I didn't ask for a replacement. I was so disappointed I have asked for a refund. At the moment I am still not sure if this was an over reaction on my part. I did want the model, but I have just lost a bit of confidence in it. I also as a matter of courtesy let the Hornby Technical team know. Nothing much they could say to be fair. Maybe I was unlucky and this one slipped through the net.
