  1. Evening all, I ordered a kit from them in February and it was here in about 2 weeks. Steve
  2. Evening all, I'm trying to refurbish my old Mainline 03 in blue. I bought it new in 1984(!) and it ran faultlessly, if a little fast, for years. It doesn't run at all now. I applied power directly to the wheels from my controller but nothing, the controller light doesn't even dim slightly. I have used a multimeter on but I can't find an open circuit. Can anyone help? Steve
  3. Ian, Have a look at Robert Hendry's book about Station Infrastructure, published by Ian Allan. Steve
  4. Hi Ian, Have you thought about Hastings? It was rebuilt in the 30s, with an octagonal booking hall, but fell into disrepair and was pulled down about 20 years ago and replaced with a modern glass structure. Sadly I haven't got any photos. Steve
  5. Hi, Bluebell Railway have just acquired a 3R set, if you can get there it's well worth a visit. Steve
  6. Hi Mark, I hope this helps, there are 4 tracks from the gates of the enclosure to about 10 feet (3m) short of the depot doors. This small area is concreted. The depot also services locos daily. Steve
  7. Evening, I'd love to have one of those Hunters, that's the first time I've seen a photo of it, but I'd heard good things about it. I wouldn't mind a Victor either but my Dad had the earlier version (the same colour as the Oxford one). Steve
  8. Evening all, I've tried the nail polish removal method on EFE buses without much success. I've got an EFE Bristol VR with wraparound Coastliner 700 decals. Does T-cut work with EFE decals too? Steve
  9. Hi Newbryford, Curious that you mention that, scrolling through the thread reminded me that SNGs tender was used with Flying Scotsman on 'Mainline Railway Steam-up' on 3rd September 1983. Just for interest, class 86 Euston to Stockport, D200 from Stockport to Leeds. Flying Scotsman to Carlisle with 13 mk1s on a slightly greasy day, then class 81 back to Euston. Great day! Steve
  10. Thanks Nearholmer, I'd seen abandoned derelict but I'll try 'disused Railways of sussex'. Steve
  11. Hi Bob, Mine had one screw which made it easy, I was thinking of adding small rail wheels but couldn't work out how to do the extended axles. It's still just a road crane... Steve
  12. Good morning, Having been to Isfield in Sussex recently for their Double Thumper event, I took a photo of the signal diagram which showed a siding south of the station. I know this was to an Army camp, does anyone have any more info? Maybe some photos... Steve
  13. Thanks again chaps, Lots to think about! I'd better get saving to get that new book Richard has just highlighted... Steve
  14. Gents, Thank you for your many and informed responses! In theory, I could run PO wagons alongside both colliery and Railway company wagons in the same train to the same destination whether or not they started from the same place. Am I right in thinking that while milk tanks could be attached to passenger trains, box vans would have to run in goods trains? I'm asking because I bought these today... Steve
  15. Wow, thanks for the responses! I've just spent a quarter of an hour on POWsides and found exactly what I was looking for, "White and Beeny" of Hailsham, Sussex. The Dapol and Simply Southern versions being long out of production. I'll have a look at some books too, thanks for the suggestions. As an aside, did Railway companies design their own livestock wagons or buy/lease them off the shelf? Steve
  16. That's a great point! However, if the wagon was leased would it not be the lessor who repainted it? This leads me to another question. Many PO wagons stated (in small print) that they should be returned to xyz colliery so does this mean there would be a rake of different wagons off-region heading to their supplying colliery? Steve Steve
  17. Afternoon all, I'm interested in local PO wagons but have a few questions. I understand that some firms leased wagons from the likes of BRCW and MetCam but who decorated them with the users details - the owner or the user? Also, if they were purchased, did the builder supply them painted or in primer? I should add that I'm interested in pre-privatisation wagons used by local colliers and dairies. Steve
  18. Ian, That really makes a difference, it doesn't even need a repaint! Steve
  19. Hi Simon, I don't know if it's still available but have you looked for Conrad/Hartel tram track? It used to come in packs of 4 complete with joiners (both physical and electrical) and extra sections for both sides of the track. Steve
  20. Hi Zoro, As far as I'm aware there are no differences, apart from makers plates. Steve
  21. I have one of the blue and white fork lifts, but in green and white (Stobart), I wondered if the forks were too long. As for the Subbuteo gang, you could have a coach with supporters waiting to board... The other modern touch is the old Corgi Junior horsebox modified and repainted to represent the ubiquitous coffee stand...just have to find it.
  22. Afternoon everyone If anyone is looking for non-railway source figures (as opposed to vehicles) you could try Subbuteo. Yes, they make football games, but they had a range of pitch-side figures including cameramen. There was a chap with a camcorder and a TV tower. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were also available, should anyone want to model the Royal Train. As far as I'm aware, they are no longer in production but they, and similar products, can be found on auction sites. I thought some of you may be interested. Steve
  23. How about the Dublo Dinky range? Morris Cowley pick-up, Morris Minor van, Commer van etc. I remember having a Matchbox catalogue with scales in the '70s, Johann, best I've got now is the Maurice Hammond book 'Lesney Matchbox 1-75 Series Diecasts'. Steve
