  1. In case anyone’s interested, here’s what the track on top of the bridge looks like! The one benefit of the speed restriction is that you get to have a good nosey at Laira as you crawl past.
  2. I’m currently on the 08:15 Penzance to Paddington - we’ve been told that we’re going through but have to pass very very slowly over the bridge.
  3. Penzance just now - have been told this 802 isn’t going anywhere! Thank goodness for the old Castles!
  4. Going back to the Bachmann model - am I right in thinking the lights at each end should have black surrounds, rather than yellow as depicted on the model?
  5. The only problem with doing this, is that the matte band that wraps side, is actually different - on the sleeper it’s on the left, on HST stock it’s on the right!
  6. Admittedly if you want to model the Night Riviera accurately, it would involve a fair bit of modifying and respraying, as the RFM and BSO aren't available RTR. I think the Hornby packs just use a TGS?
  7. I just ordered one of these from Kernow - now I just have to try and track down some mk3 SLEPs to go with it, which is proving near on impossible!
  8. I recently got back into model railways, off the back of the retirement of HST's, and so last years was the first range announcement I'd paid attention to since I was about 10, so 15 years ago! In my situation, it's a case of buying 'stock' to keep for a rainy day in the future when I eventually have space for a layout. I'm really excited for the FGW HST & Mk3s, mainly because these have been going for CRAZY money on eBay. Also the PRIDE IET and Pendolino - as a member of the LGBT community, its so positive to see these included.
  9. I can confirm that these are included - or at least they were in mine!
  10. Strangely, the roof is gloss too - so it doesn’t match the other GWR powercars...
  11. Just managed to snag Hornby R3770 Sir Kenneth Grnage for £220 on eBay using the promo code! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164263602270
  12. EDIT: or they were never present - this one was converted from an FO
  13. I’m embarking on the same project - looking at potentially using a Oxford Rail for the buffet. I’m basing mine on a rake I photographed back in 2019. In this case, the quarter windows on one side have been completely plated over! It seems like an absolute minefield - best of luck!
  14. Hello Everyone, I've having a bit of trouble trying to get my head around the formations of FGW/GWR HSTs. I've been regular traveler on the Taunton to Penzance route since 2015, and have become a bit of a HST fan since their withdrawal ! Based on my own videos taken during 2019, I can see that formations tend to be A-B-C-D-H-J-K-L (TGS, TSO, TSD, TSO, TSO, TSO, TRFB, TFD). However, I can remember seeing coaches E and F in a set on many occasions. In fact, I'm sure the formations used to be A-B-C-D-E-F-K-L. Can anyone shed a little light on what the general practice was, and what is a good example of a prototypical set? Thanks!
