  1. Can't resist linking to these pics - a priceless record. http://www.flickr.com/photos/punkrocksuperstar63/3456156256/ Re the box Keefer, according to the re-signalling diagram the changeover was due to take place 3/2/1980. I don't think that the box lasted much beyond this.
  2. Keefer, The 126's are from March 1978 and the shot of the GS from June 1983. I've a few more from the '80's on my website but like others I sorely neglected the area. Bruce
  3. Some from me - first, decidedly ropey 126 scans The goods shed shortly before demolition. Bruce
  4. Very neat modelling Mick! The finished box looks like it will be full of character. And nice to see the H&BR modelled! Re polishing clear plastic, there are a range of polishes available - primarily for removing scratches from boat or caravan windows - example below: http://www.towsure.com/product/Fenwicks_Windowize_Caravan_Window_Scratch_Repair Before using I would recommend trying out on a scrap piece of your glazing material first - and leaving overnight before using. Why? - because clear plastic covers a wide range of polymers - polystyrene, k resin, petg, acrylic and polycarbonate for example. Crystal styrene is the most common form (for modellers) and is less resistant to solvents and abrasion than the acrylic material that the window polish is designed to be used on. Not sure if these polishes contain a solvent element but if they do any affects may only appear after leaving for a while. I hope that I'm not 'teaching you how to suck eggs'! I'll watch progress on this model with great interest as I'm working on a box with similar construction methods. I plan to trial a similar polish once I reach the glazing stage as I'll inevitably scratch something! Best regards, Bruce

Manchester United has won the most titles in English football, with 53 domestic trophies, comprising a record 19 league titles, a record 11 FA Cups,[5] four League Cups and 19 FA Charity/Community Shields. The club has also been successful globally, winning seven international titles: three European Cups, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup

Not forgetting the second British club to lift the big cup. :)

How can they claim 19 Charity Shield wins when some of those were draws before penalty shoot-outs were invented. Anyway, it's hardly a trophy to crow about, given for a pre-season friendly between two invited teams.

  6. A farmer buys a young cock. As soon as it comes home, it rushes and makes love to all the 150 hens. The farmer is impressed. At lunch, the cock again services all 150 hens. Farmer gets tense now. Next day, he finds the cock making love to the ducks and the geese. Later, the farmer finds the cock pale, half-dead and vultures circling overhead. Farmer says, “You deserved it, you horny git!” The cock opens one eye,and says, “Ssshhh. They’re about to land.!
  7. Just spent 4 hours turning the layout round - well its quicker than rewiring the Heljan 28......

  8. I lay awake all last night trying to remember if I was an amnesiac or an insomniac.
  9. Looking very good - I have one of these kits too (unstarted) and was going to abandon it in favour of the JE. However your efforts have inspired me to give it a go!! (just dont expect me to publish my efforts!!) I've managed to blow up a portion of a pic of 06008 showing the tank and bonnet top in (some) detail. Now, if I could just figure out how to add it to the post..... pm me if you want a copy pinged over. Bruce
  10. Andrew has a nice site there, Jamie. Thanks for highlighting it. My own effort is at http://brucegalloway.zenfolio.com/ Got quite a few more shots to add and may well expand the scope in the future as developing the site can become quite addictive! Bruce
  11. Very evocative night shots Dave. I always felt the station moved in mood from touristy New Town during the day to the impenetrable cold and mystery of the Old Town at night - especially in the winter months. The layout captures this very well. Some pics for you to mull over in here : http://brucegalloway.zenfolio.com/p1014121698 I hope there is something of interest. Bruce
  12. Hi Jim, Just noticed your post. Yes, the pic was taken from the old Leslie trackbed. I remember following the train most of the morning as it serviced the two paper mills on the branch - unfortunately, this was very early in my photograghic career and the pics aint the best!. AFAIR the max load down the branch (down in a literal sense as well) was 7 vehicles so it was not unknown for the shunter to have to make 4 or 5 trips to the mills and Haigs. Return trips to Markinch, being empties, were not so tightly restricted. It was a lovely wee branch - and very model worthy especially in 7mm. This pic shows the same train about 50 yards further down the line passing the entrance to the Dickinsons siding. The shunter is more visible here - H&S eat your heart out! The track in the road here is one of the few remaining artifacts today. More pics of the Barclays here and here Hope the Edge 06 is progressing well! Bruce

  14. Overdue but nonetheless, great pics Dave - some lovely Highland light. Some more bits and bobs from me. And in no particular order. 25010 approaches Markinch with a southbound train of ballast. The train likely originated from Clatchard Craig quarry near Newburgh on the Ladybank to Perth line. On the right can be seen staff working on the MAS resignalling of the station which was to take place in the July of the year. On the left can be seen stock waiting to be shunted at the Co-op coal sidings. April 1980 81009 heads south at Harthope with the white ladies in tow. April 1988 45064 waits to leave Waverley with 1E40 19:25 Aberdeen - King's Cross. October 1981 06 003 carefully propels a mixed rake of 16t minerals down the Auchmuty branch near the now closed DRG paper mill. The coal was destined for the mill's boilers - the mill's main product was carbonless copy papers - remember them!!?? The propelling move would facilitate shunting at the sole remaining DRG siding which faced the junction and had long lost it's run round facility. May 1980 My tuppence worth towards Andy's pic of #10 - the deltic does indeed look like it's in the east platforms but could be working ecs back to Craigentinny - but it's unlikely the sleeper would have worked into these platforms. Alternatively it could be about to work the morning train to Newcastle. Bruce
  15. Dave, Just noticed your post re Kdy pics - heres a few (a couple may well be "doublers" - I'm pretty useless at keeping track.). 08441 and brake stabled beside the site of the signal box. Nov 1980 A class 47 passes Seafield pit with a Dundee to Edinburgh service. http://www.users.zet...its/s/pit-6.htm gives more info on the pit. May 1986 The up 'Aberdonian' (08.30 Aberdeen to KX) passes Dysart station site. June 1983 47 445 from Crewe heads the 08.10 Newcastle to Aberdeen, also near Dysart. June 1983 I've started putting together a Zenfolio website - click here or on the hyperlink in my signature. It's early days so bear with me but hopefully it'll be worth a browse for those interested in this era. Bruce
