  1. Thanks for that rovex. We are actually using the very same on the O gauge layout at MMRS but they seem a bit small and a bit flimsy in themselves to me.I know they are strong enough but I really prefer the look of the Lynx Models stanchions to be honest, I just need to know the distance to set them apart.
  2. Appologies for the lack of detail info. The period is 1952 'ish' and the viaduct is brick built with bricked up arches below the track bed, three of which I am making occupational arches for various businesses. I will be using white metal stanchions from Lynx models with 2 handrails of piano wire. I am thinking these would be of the cast iron variety of handrail back then and after a couple of tries with spacing, I am thinking either 5'6" or 6'0" would be about right. Thanks for the photo, the railings look like the sort I envisage but not the stanchions. Howsgill viaduct is not the same type of viaduct that I will have, but thank you all the same. Incidentally, I have tried long and hard without success to find photo's of occupational arch viaducts, they dont seem to have been a popular subject!
  3. I am a fairly new O gauge modeller and I have a 7'6" viaduct across the back of my small! shunting layout (still a work in progress), and want to put railings on the capping along the top. Can anyone advise me what distance I should set the posts apart. I've read and heard that it could be 4'6", 5', and 6' in prototype so what would look correct in O gauge?
  4. Thank you Martin Wynne. Had a quick look at the link and it looks extremely helpful. I will get back to it over weekend when I have the time to sit down and study it!! Cheers.
  5. Thanks ISW. Checked this one out previously and it does not give me what I am after ie. an actual plan of the point, such as Peco provide with their point plan downloads. cheers for trying to help.
  6. Thanks Hayfield, will look for the Templot d/load and try it out. As a matter of interest, Peco do not do 3 way points, have no plans to do so, and consequently no appropriate downloads.
  7. New to RMweb and to modelling!, but would ask if anyone has Marcway point plans they are willing to part with. I know they are included in their planner book but I am only really interested in their range of 3 way points and £11.95 is a bit steep just for that! Appologies everyone, but I should have also added that I am modelling in O gauge!!
