    Spent most of this evening unboxing, checking and reboxing these absolute beauties ! Another batch due tomorrow, please Dapol upscale to O gauge - plenty left anyone is interested.

    The smoke box door comes off complete to allow the DCC decoder to be slotted inside,, so should be no bother at all filling in the number plate holes if required.

    Further work on the Class 08....Class 09! I decided I wasn’t happy with the Dapol slightly over scale EWS brandings, so I painted them out and applied the fantastic Railtec faded ones instead - oh and numbered the loco 09022 she’s off to a new home next week. I really enjoyed this little project, so much so another 09 is undergoing work, along with a Transrail branded Class 08.

    The other Class 08s I’ll be working through, the Railfreight loco will be sorted out I.e. the sparrow removed then a Transrail T logo applied, with the Intercity loco just being weathered to a light work stained condition.

    I’ve taken delivery of a number of Dapol Class 08s, one of which is in EWS colours. unfortunately the scheme isn’t correct for the majority of the locos, black cab roof and yellow exhaust pot really stood out so I’ve decided to use my new found airbrush confidence by correcting it. Here is the process of masking in preparation, painting and the finished product - once the loco is dry I’ll be applying some weathering and numbers etc.

    The Class 56 is definitely a Heljan project unfortunately due to cost, Dapol have the 66 due perhaps in 2021 at a much more reasonable price.

    Do Dapol launch their 2019, 2020 etc programs like Hornby and Bachmann or do they drip feed out models at big shows each year? ta
