  1. I admit it is not usable in every situation but my best purchase recently is a RSU. To be able to position a part, hold it in place with the carbon probe, apply heat and then use the probe to keep the parts in situ as the solder cools is a game changer for me. Fewer scorched fingers.
  2. I agree. I think you have, by accident, captured the look very well. Bet you couldn’t do it again if you intended to! PS If you ever decide it’s surplus to requirements can I be first in line please.
  3. Forgive my ignorance of 2mm Finescale matters but do you not bush your axle holes?
  4. Using a piercing saw is a skill I’ve yet to acquire. I can’t seem too control the blade, it wanders, it seems, at will. Current method is to get it to within a mm or so of my marking out and then resort to files and emery cloth. Envious of people who can get it virtually to the line.
  5. Lord Voldemort or the Dark Lord, or He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named
  6. I think Tony missed the Harry Potter reference. 😊
  7. The wife says I need something to do and said I should make a bird table. Now she’s not speaking to me because I only put her at No8….
  8. I thought you should never model a model??!! 😀 I mention it as I have several times come close to building a PECOised version of Leighton Buzzard. Ignore the Gasworks area and it can be easily done in 6’6”. 9’0” with the Gasworks and curved exit track. It does involve modifying a few PECO turnouts though and the track doesn’t quite “flow” as well as it should. But then again it shouldn’t, as a homage to the skills of Rev. Denny.
  9. Last night my wife said she wanted to cook in peace and quiet. So I turned the Smoke Alarm off.
  10. Thanks Hope it’s nothing serious.
  11. Hi Does anyone know if there is an up to date availability and price list for Arthur’s kits? Thank you.

  13. I phoned a pizza place at the weekend and ordered a thin and crispy supreme.. they sent me Diana Ross.
  14. My youngest just came downstairs from watching tv in his room and said. “Dad, what’s love juice?” I nearly choked on my brew but thought I’d better be honest so I said “well son, when a woman gets sexually excited her xxxxxxx gets wet, that’s called love juice” He just stared at me shocked and bewildered so I said “why? What is it you’re watching up there?” “Just Wimbledon Dad” he says
  15. Sean Connery was interviewed by Michael Parkinson and bragged that, despite being 72 years of age, he could still have sex three times a night. Cilla Black, who was also a guest, looked intrigued. After the show, Cilla says, "Sean, if I'm not bein too forward, I'd luv to 'ave sex with yer. Lets go back to my 'ouse, we could 'ave a lorra fun." So they went back to her place and got comfortable. After a couple of drinks they went off to bed and had an hour of mad passionate sex together. Afterwards, Sean says, "If you think that was good, let me sleep for half an hour, and we can have better sex. But while I'm sleeping, hold my balls in your left hand and ma willie in your right hand." Cilla looks a bit perplexed, but says, "Okay." He sleeps for half an hour, awakens, and they have even better sex than before. Then Sean says, 'Cilla, that was wonderful. But if you let me sleep for an hour, we can have the better sex yet. You'll have to......." "I know Sean. Yer want me to 'old onto yer bat 'n balls again. No problem hun." Cilla complies with the routine. The results this time are absolutely mind blowing. Once it's all over, they have a drink, Sean lights a cigarette and Cilla asks. "Sean, tell me, dis 'oldin yer balls in one hand and yer willie in de other - does it really stimulate yer that much?" Sean replies, "No, not at all Cilla, but the last time I slept with a scouser, the bitch stole ma wallet.
  16. I’m also sure the Railway Modeller had an article on Newham as an alternative to Ashburton. It would be back in the 80s I think.
  17. I rarely post, being more a consumer of these Forums than a contributor, but could I make a few points. In the main this is a free Forum. Warners can spend as much or as little time and/or money on it as they see fit from a business point of view. They could have said forget the past photos etc and start afresh from now with the new server. But no they are trying to repair the damage for the good of all, us the consumer/contributor and them the business. This Forum is, in my opinion, very well moderated, being consistent in its rules and application. @AY Mod takes a lot on compared to other Forums I use. These are mainly sailing Forums. I don’t hear of any suspensions or bans on here. On YBW.com it got to such a state that lifetime bans were handed out, subjects were declared out of bounds and a team of moderators was required. As far as I’m aware @AY Mod responds, maybe a little snappily, but he doesn’t suspend or ban. Be grateful for that. Finally I think @AY Mod should consider some downtime from RMWeb if only for his own sanity. No matter how much someone may love their job, want to please the contributors on a Forum and fulfil the job obligations we all need sometime away. If only to please our loved ones. In this case it’s only model railways it’s not life and death. All this was said as constructive comment and was in no way meant to offend. If it has in any way then I most humbly apologise.
  18. Sugar and spice, and all things nice?
  19. All sorted very quickly thanks to a nice gentleman on here. It’s amazing how helpful people are to complete strangers on here.
  20. Does anyone have a copy of the October 1979 Model Railway Constructor? Specifically I am after the article by G R Weddell (Sp?) on the LSWR/SR Hearse Van. A photocopy or scan would be great if anyone has ready access. Thank you.
