  1. Quick Google found some
  2. Peter's Spares definitely have two in stock.
  3. And before you ask, we have different star signs!
  4. I believe that the HM6010 accessory device can be configured to work with the HM7000 app via Bluetooth. https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/news/new-chapter-train-control-hm7000 There's a section on upgrading from HM6000 to HM7000.
  5. As a kid one of my friends had a Scrap Book. When he bought a new loco or rolling stock he cut out a photo of the from one of the magazines and added it to the book, along with the date and amount paid. Bit like collecting football stickers etc. So technically he bought the contents of the entire catalogue 🤣
  6. Pity no green 0-4-0 no 27 in the Margate 70s models. Part of my first trainset as a 3 year old, Christmas 1970. I also had, but later sold, Nellie, Polly and Connie. No 27 is still running, though now with Scale link wheels, Zimo decoder and stay alive. Locomotion on order, as I've previously lived and worked in both Stockton and Darlington, travelling partly along the route of the original line.
  7. Very sad that Hattons is closing. I hope everyone associated with the company is able to secure alternative employment very quickly. My earliest purchase from Hattons was when the Mainline J72 was first launched. My mum let me use her credit card for mail order - I was only around 10 at the time! Latest purchase was 5 minutes ago, substantial order of MicroTrains N USA wagons. The world is constantly changing, manufacturers, retailers and Empires come and go.
  8. The 110 DMU from around 1982 has just had the update to the latest DCC friendly motor bogie without much being done to the chassis frame. With a similar modification the Margate class 25, 29, 35, 52 and 86 could be brought back as Railroad as long as the tooling is available. The 37 and 47 are now modified Lima, but the Lima 52 tooling has not been used since manufacture switched to China.
  9. In the previous series of Hornby A Model World wasn't there an episode where a new starter at Hornby designed a new 0-4-0 loco with a much better chassis to be sold in the entry level train sets? Never seen this mentioned again. Be good if the chassis was able to be used under Connie / Nellie / Polly or the green number 27 that was in my first trainset Christmas 1970.

    EBay madness

I saw that for sale - but it wouldn't match the loco I have. It's running as an inside cylinder loco at the moment until spares become plentiful.

  12. This should work - you'll need to have signed into the TT120 club first. https://www.hornbyhobbies.co.uk/download_file/force/9bb64c73-2491-4927-8a89-708fefa2a98c/120883
  13. IT can be done, as long as the decoder has solder pads and you have the confidence to do it.
  14. To make a DCC decoder produce sounds on DC you'll need a high end decoder, for example ESU Loksound or Zimo MX400 series. None of the Hornby sound decoders will made a noise on DC. So budget around £130 for a decoder and speaker. The sound effects will be limited, as there's no way of invoking say a whistle or horn, though the sounds will change as the throttle is opened and closed. One thing to watch for is when bringing the loco to a stop the sound will go off as the voltage across the rails falls below a certain voltage, from memory around 5 volts. With practice you can find which position on the controller will keep the sound playing without the loco moving.
  15. It's the length that's putting the price up. Might be worth advertising that they have been cut into two equal lengths and supply a pack of rail joiners in the price. Wait until they sell before cutting up though! I did that when someone in Northern Ireland bought some track which I was posting from England. That would have cost nearly £20 to post around 15 years ago.
