Thanks, I found it was easiest to behd the main curve first and work outwards. Number 23 is up and running but still needs finishing below the footplate.

That's a very nice looking kit, I've had the privilege (?) of driving the militarised RL version, those tiny cab doors are an experience even for an average sized person. It would (literally) pull up trees though.

Loco is looking much more realistic and the old model holds up well with a little effort don't you think?
As for smokebox darts, you have my sympathies!
Ping tray anyone?

Actually I'm not having a go at anyone and I object to your total misinterpretation of my post and subsequent knee jerk, accusatory response.
I am fully aware that the crash of this site was outside of the control of those who set up and moderate same. They paid for a hosting service and didn't get what they were promised from the providers.
It was their hope, as you probably know, that the images would be restored in time. I refrained from deleting my old image links and reinserting them because: 1, nobody was totally certain that the old images would not be returned. 2, if everyone was to start reloading images it would likely overload the already struggling system which was trying to resolve itself.
I have most of my pictures backed up to cloud, but like this site, I too didn't quite get my money's worth.
When my phone got smashed up by a work mishap, I found that some images related to my thread were corrupted or missing.
Is this my fault? Is it RMWeb's fault?
Neither.
I happen to think it's wrong that so much has been retrieved, that now it's pretty obvious that the images can't be saved, so in order to preserve the integrity and wealth of information here and as a hat tip to all the work put in by the organisers, we, the original posters should bite the bullet and upload once more as many photos as we possibly can. It may take a while, but it is what it is.
The fact that you can sit there in self praise of how well organised and tech savvy you are about saving a few snapshots has no bearing on my existence, that I would consider delusional.

Thanks for letting me know Mike. I might have to invoke Rule 1 again (getting worried that I might wear it out!)
Nothing wrong with rule 1. It's a GWR branch terminus, something of a rarity since about 1985, time for a renaissance, we're allowed, no, expected to have a few anomalies and clichés!

How uncanny! Looks very similar the layout. Right down to the locomotives and vehicles. Is the crossing still there? Or has it since been lifted?
I wonder what the 15 on the front of the loco refers to? Not something I’ve seen modelled before.
I think that you need to see this:

That's the beast! I hope you won't mind if I use that as a yardstick for the conversion, I've collected a few photos of PW Toads and decided it would probably be easier than hacking about a Ratio kit, which was the other option but the dimensions seem a bit out.

That's a typical Bachmann Shay lunching it's own undergubbins after a few hours of running.
Looks more like it took a dive off the layout after pesky bandits set fire to a trestle bridge.
But I take it that the model is, er......
Somewhat flawed?

Thanks Chris, I'll give it another go. It doesn't seem right that this site is maintained to preserve a record of people's efforts and advice and the pictures are lost, meaning that a lot of the posts don't make sense. I was hoping that they would be restored when this thread started, but it's looking less than likely, so I will be putting back those which weren't lost when my phone got crushed.

I am in a similar situation, the file links for the uploads are still there, but if you try to upload them again, nothing happens, I think that there's nothing saved or reinstated. I could go through and reload, but I lost or corrupted a lot my pictures when my previous phone got mangled. Plus it's 200 pages.

I don't think I have ever seen them painted - would be a jolly odd thing to paint I think. I always touch mine over with gold acrylic which does a good job of being brass if they are moulded plastic.
Getting the paint to stay on brass that gets a regular blast from high pressure steam would have been virtually impossible 100 years ago I suspect and they would soon have looked scruffy. The same applies to the safety valves inside the top of the cover.

Might be a little early for your period. That's one from the late twenties and GWR transferred it's road transport interests to local bus companies in 1929 so you wouldn't have seen buses in GWR livery in the thirties.
Thsnks, that's interesting interesting to know. In my case I might have to ask @russell priceabout Clun Valley motor services liveries.

That looks really good and I particularly like the subtle weathering of the bauxite paintwork.
I think that it was @KNPwho I saw had modified an old Mainline Toad with panelled in verandah. It certainly solved the issue of the verandah sides being a bit too thick. I remember taking a file to one years ago after reading a comment in the MRC.

You probably have access to hundreds of pictures, but this one shows the non towpath side rather well.
Inland waterways
Peter Jones
Someone in the squadron needs to work on his bus recognition charts, although the purple and white paint job wouldn't have helped.
Blog Preston / Hans-Ulrich Rudel.
What is interesting here is the amount of growth between the towpath and canal edge. Fine for modern image, but I expect that it would have been kept scythed down and trampled by horses back in the thirties

What about buses that are parked on a bridge while acting as a decoy for an anti-aircraft battery?
Dive bombers are notoriously difficult to hit with AA fire, presenting a very narrow target head on, you just have to get as much lead in the air as you can. They're slow though, much better to get behind them with fighter cover.

I guess you've seen the steam powered motor bikes on YouTube...
Indeed, but it's very distracting, you find yourself looking at the rocket powered Opel bike and bicycles powered by a home made pulse jet.....

Ah, a PW train in the making?
It certainly is, I'll be having a look back through the pages of Little Muddle to remind myself of how Kevin loaded his.
I also have an eclectic collection of ballast wagons and I'm thinking of converting an old Mainline Toad into a PWay brake van.
Then there's the crane....
I really must get around to finishing that!
Now what to haul the train with?

Further level crossing avoidance behaviour has resulted in this:
Cambrian kit of the GWR 18 Ton sleeper wagon. Slater's sprung 3 link couplings, Bachmann wheels in brass bearings.
It's been a nice easy build. The buffer heads are left a bit rough until the glue has hardened. I don't have any way to hold them securely and carefully file then to shape.
There's not a lot of room for weight, so I sawed a 5g motorcycle wheel weight in half and stuck the two halves with their adhesive pads up behind the bulkheads.
I've sloshed a little freight grey around under the upper decks and frames because the instructions advise fitting the wheels early as once they're in....

It will of course be: A. A period correct bus. B. Not parked in the middle of a bridge.
Therefore exempt from spontaneous blitzkrieg.
I don't have a problem with buses or other road transport as such.
But unlike the trains, those models are static. Buses are fine parked up at a bus stop, or stuck at a level crossing or junction, same thing with cars, and thoughtfully placed they add atmosphere and set the era as much as anything else.
For them to be in a position where they ought to be moving, it's a giveaway that they cannot.

That's good news, two buses is risky, three and we start to hear the sound of approaching aircraft...
