I’ve always been interested in the Woodhead route even though I was born 5 years after closure of the route, the unique locos, gantries and just general run down feel of the route has always fascinated me. Yesterday me and my family walked from Crowden station up to Woodhead tunnel, so I thought I’d share a few pics from yesterday. Looking towards Sheffield from crowden station. Looking in the opposite direction towards Manchester.An old sleeper slowly disappearing into the undergrowth. Slowly heading towards Woodhead tunnel. Approach to Woodhead station and tunnel. Hope you enjoy the pictures,I plan on exploring the rest of the route when I have some spare time.
