  1. Don't know of this has been covered on here yet, but the lamp room at Eardington station, located on the Severn Valley Railway, was raided and a large number of items were stolen on 15/04/24.

The items included a dozen loco lamps, a cast iron door sign, brass oil cans, a milk churn and an enamelled advertising sign along with a toolbox of spare parts that have been accumulated over the last 20 years.

Also, just a few days earlier, Hampton Loade was also subject to a theft in which cast-iron signage was taken.

Someone’s copying the West Coast way then? 😜

Very much look forward to seeing this in BR civil engineers 😀👍🏼

    They've only just repainted it!

But yes, It would look in "Dutch"

Cracking job, personally I would have preferred preferred tops numbers and headcodes but that's just my preference. Good to see its had a good restoration.

It has got its TOPs number on already. unless you mean its old BR number (D6964?).

I'll be honest, the BR large logo livery, although it's a good livery, was looking a bit faded. The guys have done a great job and I can't wait to see '264 back in service.

That is pretty hideous to be honest. Any reason why Large Logo could not have been retained?

I think it's alright. The red and black parts are good but I think the grey is too light. Maybe if they changed it to a darker grey, it would look better.

I don't know why they repainted it from BR blue but there's probably a reason for it out there somewhere.

  5. I visited the museum yesterday and asked one of the volunteers if they would be getting a new workshop. He said that the museum currently don't have any plans to.

    So that'll be a no.

In more positive news, I was also told that the balcony overlooking the real railway should reopen sometime this month.

You're not going to persuade me to go, the way that place has treated its volunteers and now its paid staff in the past 12 months has been absolutely disgusting.

    I wasn't trying to.

As a volunteer. I think I'm actually being treated well: I haven't come across anyone who's been nasty to me yet.

They're making the guy who has pretty much kept the diesels going for 30 odd years redundant, good luck with that.

We're already on talks with the owners of, hopefully, 2 guest locos. I can't say anything at the moment but think they're a brilliant choice.

  10. UPDATE:

70000 Britannia will now not be visiting the line. This is due to the delay of the work on it that is currently going on. It is awaiting parts that are needed for repairs.

Because of this, 70000 wouldn't be operational in time for the visit and has now been replaced with 46100 Royal Scot.

  11. Saw 37264 helping 08850 on some coach moves in Pickering carriage stable on 06/01/24. Took a couple of photos.

    So what's changed?

Well, the windows on the bodyside looks like they have been masked off, the number and BR double arrow have been removed although the outline is still visible. There's more green primer on the bodyside in various places. The front ends look the same as before.
