  1. Mike Thank you for the information, it is greatly appreciated Cheers Richard
  2. Hello Mike I am building this kit from Arthur and I am up to this point in the build of the body work. Please a question if I may, if you can cast your mind back to when you built this. In the view above there is a small bracket located on the cab side sheet which has 2 holes in it and below it in the tank top there are 2 corresponding holes and on the opposite tank top there are 2 other holes do you know what these are for? Thank you Richard
  3. Hello Regarding the N.E.R. battery boxes, I found this supplier on ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275620422239?hash=item402c41e25f:g:yfcAAOSwBFhjszTD I dont know if these represent the 5ft ones mentioned. The seller does indicate that they can be supplied seperately. Hope this helps. Richard
  4. Hello Mick I also use this method with a few of variations. The attached photo shows the main one which is the addition of a couple of straight n/s wires attached front to back either side of the slot in the bogie stretcher, the wires help to give some sideways control of the bogie movement and help to guide the driving wheels, I limit the sideplay on the bogie axles to give just a running clearence. The other is that I add or remove thin washers above the spring to adjust the load carried by the spring rather than physically stretching or shortening it. Regarding the sources of B16 kits DJH have one in their range in OO scale, if it can be built to EM or P4 gauge I do not know. Richard
  5. Mick Thank you It is good to hear that Arthur was progressing, may he continue to do so. Richard
  6. Hello Mick and Mike Do you know how is Arthur after his health problems? Has he managed to recommence trading? I do not wanrt to contact him if he is still unwell. Thank you Richard
  7. Hello Mick Thank you for the information, I will try ebay fingers crossed. Richard
  8. Hello Mick I am looking for red lining to finish off in LNER lined black my D20 loco built from one of Arthur K kits. May I ask if you have used the HMRS sheet since the problems you had with these, if so are the recent incarnations any better. Thank you Richard
  9. Hello Tony Thank you for the information. What a pity it may have gone for good, I attended last years show and can only reiterate your comments regarding the attendance. If memory serves me well it was the last time I saw Eileens Emporium, I think they went bust the week following last years Wigan show Forunately as APOLLO commented there is Leigh show to look forward to. Both last years show and this years were well worth a visit. The organiser really does put the effort in, and no doubt he will have plans in place for next years show. For me it is a 15 minute journey to the venue. Regards Richard
  10. Tony From your comment regarding Wigan show going, have you anymore information regarding what has happened, has it disappeared just for this year? Thank you Richard
  11. Hi Please do you have the web address for this supplier. I have tried searching for it without success. I've found every other 3d print supplier but not this one. Thanks Richard
  12. Hi Mike I came across a you tube video by the 0 Gauge Guild in which they were interviewing a professional model railway painter, I can't remember his name but he used "Magic Tape" to produce his boiler bands in the same way you have used masking tape. He stuck the tape onto plasticard rather that hardboard. Might be worth trying if yours come unstuck. Richard
  13. I know it as a Scribing Block. Here is mine, made by me over 54 years ago when I was an engineering apprentice at Electro-Hydraulics in Warrington. Richard
  14. Hello 247 Developments have some washers, with square holes, listed under the loco detailing parts They are listed as :- G71 6 thou washers to convert Romford axle to 'OO' Fine Scale Standards. I have used them in the past not for converting to DOGA fine standards but to pack out Markits EM gauge wheels and axles which were a bit tight on the EM back to back measurement. Hope this helps Richard
  15. Mike What a bonus having that photo. Your scratch built signals are exceptional, the gantry in particular. Funny seeing the section of fence with the top rail missing. When I built my fence I left out a couple of complete section across a base board joint, I have shown it as a pile of timber being rebuilt by a man with a shovel, it adds a bit of variety to the scene. I also started my train spotting around the time you did, mine was done at Ditton junction station on the line from Liverpool to Crewe, all ex LMS and BR standards. If we got up early usually on a Sunday morning we saw the prototype Deltic in charge of an express passenger train to London. How I developed an interest in the NER is a mystery. Cheers Richard
  16. Mike Glad to hear you have been busy. Did you scratch build the fencing? I scratch built 4 ft of NER fencing for my small layout and I thought I had done well. It was bad news concerning Eileen's Emporium, they were my go to supplier of tools and materials I take it then that 1492 will be the one you build. Please post your B4 build, I certainly will be looking for it. Cheers Richard
  17. Hello Mike Seasons Greetings to you and all your readers. Hope you are well. How is the B4 progressing, it has been a long time since you posted. I and also I hope other followers of your thread have been starved of your builds and the detailed explanations you give. I hope you will post some updates as I for one need a bit of motivation at the moment. Did this class get as far as Hessle? Cheers Richard
  18. Hello If it is of any help, there is a similar tape available from wizard models, although it is dearer. C20: Carriage Roof Tape (25m reel) - Wizard Models Limited Richard
  19. Hello May I ask is the wagon in front of the loco a modified kit or scratch built? It does add that bit of difference to the normal run of wagons. By any chance are you exhibiting the layout at the Manchester show in December? Richard
  20. Hello Mick and All It seems that the web site is back up and running. I have just been on it. Richard
  21. Hello Jon Thank you for the information. I will certainly look at his site. Richard
  22. Hello Mick I have been following you builds of NER coaches with interest as I am needing some for my layout. I have just tried the Worsley Works web site, this is what I found. I hope it is just a blip. You may have been lucky to have received your etches from them. Richard
