Introducing Langton Road, a fictional East Midlands location et in 1987/8, with a plethora of mixed traction depicting a TMD for the motive power for local coal and speed link traffic, and also with a local stopping station to be served by sprinters or dmus with the odd passing loco plus 4 heading off to Norwich or far Eastern shores ! This has been a slow burn project, that is now finally starting to take shape, hence the time is right to share progress.
With a spare room to play with (approx 8.5’ x 7’) I’d looked at options for either a U shaped end to end or a tail chaser. A double door built in wardrobe and door to the landing were to be a challenge for the tail chaser, but I’ve managed to sort out a board design that gets around that.
The layout will be DCC via an NCE Powercab, with simple point motor control via switches. As this is my first DCC layout I’ve opted for a simple approach, automation is not on my radar. Points will be via Peco PL10Es, gaugemaster polarity switches and CDU. Track is Peco code 75, concrete for the mains, wooden flat bottom and bullhead for the TMD.
Fleet consists of classes 08,20,31,37,47,56,58,101,108,128 and 150 liveries pre two-tone grey, so BR blue, large logo and Railfreight.
Apologies for the pictures, I will figure out a better way to upload them.
Window section with lower board for the embankment and road bridge.
Awkward door section, but I’ve managed to get around this. This area will be off scenic and now has 6 roads across it as an off scenic mini fiddle yard.
Reverse view looking from the door/wardrobe corner of the room.
And back the other way.
TMD track layout.
Awaiting next turn.
Anyway, that’s a starter for ten, I’m wiring at the moment, but will post more as we progress. I will also try and sort the pics out, it seems to have loaded in low res.
Cheers
Mark
