    Ck17 kit

Hi, Quick question - does the ck17 country station kit come with the platforms shown in the picture? Just want to know if i need to buy platform as well!
  4. Hi, Im not at the stage of needing to worry about it as yet but im part way through building the ck11 semi detached house kit. Nowhere on the instructions does it say what the eaves are made from. Are they made from the concrete sheet? Or are they on a sprue? Does anyone have any experience with this? Cheers!
  5. Hi all, Having a weird issue with a blocksignalling points position indicator. Im wiring up each motor one by one to check for issues. On the very first one i found a problem... one of the leds turns on and off perfectly but the other led stays on constantly regardless of point position, however it does flicker when the switch is thrown. Ive narrowed it down to the c2 terminal on the output side by swapping leds round. Has anyone else had this problem or have i just bought a duff unit? Sorry if this makes no sense
  6. hi all, Ive had the above class 47 loco for about 9 months now with no issues whatsoever until tonight. Was having a running session and then the loco stopped on a bit of dirty track I'd missed... having moved the loco past it, i would normally expect the sound to come back. It doesn't and hasn't. All other functions work, including lights and motor. I've tried the old IT trick of turning it off and then on again to no joy. No sound at all. Which leads me to believe that the speaker has blown. Ive removed the body and the speaker seems intact and still wired in. Is there anything i can do before i moan at Bachmann or replace the speaker myself? Cheers
  7. Thanks for your replies... as it's my first ever layout (excluding the basic one my dad made for me on my 5th birthday) I'm just experimenting... the track doesn't touch but is quite close so I'll make sure I'm careful. Having thought long and hard, ive decided to make the theme like a heritage railway, like the one i used to go in the forest of dean as a child. So the car park in the top left with a footbridge to a station on the sidings. Then countryside around the outer areas with maybe a hill, a tunnel or a lake to make it a bit more exciting. The area around the turntable will be some sort of maintenance and storage yard. I'm planning to build a big layout in my loft (with my wife's permission of course) in the near future so will take into account rolling stock storage when building that. As it stands I'll just put the rolling stock on as and when. Once again, thanks for all your help!
  8. Thanks... sorry it took so long to reply, I fitted a PL11 in the end and it works perfectly! Many thanks
  9. HI, I'm building my first real layout... i've attached the track plan I hope! Basically it's all wired up, the point motors are in, I'm about to ballast... but I've got no idea about scenery (i'm not a creative thinker!) can anyone help me with some basic ideas of what to put where? I've got a veritable mish mash of diesel locos and one 4472 so there's no real setting in time! I just want to make a good looking layout and take my time with it! I've got no set ideas and am willing to do whatever (in fact the more stuff I can do the better) be it making terrain, tunnels, towns, lakes, fields etc! Can anyone help?
  10. HI, apologies if this is in the wrong place, I'm currently building a roundy roundy in my garage and am in the process of putting in point motors. I've been using the Hornby surface mounted ones with great success until I hit a snag: I've got an issue with the size of one; the point itself comes off directly onto a 3rd radius curve and this means that my Class 47 gets caught on the profile of the motor and gets stuck. There is no way I can mount a SEEP motor or other baseboard motor as this point is on the very edge of my layout and so support is in the way underneath. I can think of 2 solutions but need a bit more information and was wondering if someone here could help? 1. I install a PL11 but am unsure of the dimensions of it, it does look like its a lot lower than the r8243, but am not sure. 2. I install a Hornby baseboard motor in that little hut housing but I've not got a vast amount of space between that point and the curve above it so would need to know the dimensions of the base of the housing ( I can afford not to use the actual hut if that will snag the 47 as well, I could eventually make my own custom housing to make it look like an electrical transformer or something). Can anyone help with the length and width of the r8015 baseplate or the length, width and height of the pl11? Many thanks in advance
  11. Thanks for your replies. I'm running them off a DR4018 decoder with a seperate power source. I think it is as people are saying alignment. I'll attempt to sort it today before i go to work if my kids (and wife) allow me to and report back. Many thanks
  12. Hello, This is my first post and I'm quite new to all of this so please forgive me if I'm being a bit thick! I'm building a DCC Layout and am using both Hornby surface mounted motors as and when I need to but am mainly trying to use Seep Motors (specifically PM1's) I am able to mount the surface motors with ease and have an alignment jig for the PM1's. I've only fitted one so far and whilst it will switch a Hornby point one way (left) every time, it will only throw it the other way (right) for about the first 3 times of trying, then it gets stuck in the middle but will go back to the left with ease. I have it down to two ideas; 1. That it is mounted incorrectly or 2. That my soldering/wiring is not up to par (which is highly possible) and the power going to it isn't quite enough. Could anyone give me any other ideas or give me suggestions on how to fix it? I plan on checking the wiring but would happily welcome anything else to try afterwards. Cheers
