  1. Hi Mikkel, The citizens have demanded a central lift and a double helix stairway, but there's another idea I'm pondering to do with a mechanism and magnet for a moving 'Wheeled Cart' and perhaps also a way to access 'Vernes Flying Machine'.
  2. Here's a few images illustrating progress made........ Here's the platform section for the 'Monorail'. Had alot of hassle with assembly , very fiddley, need to rethink and alter some area's of the design so that it can be taken apart for detailing and painting. Four stair sections are now complete. Thanks for Looking...... Snitzl
  3. Some thought provoking idea's in this project , don't be surprised if I pinch a one or two.
  4. Here's an update on the 'Tower' project. Lower / narrower section at the base will fit inside a ventilation shaft and will be partially hidden. Started adding steps with two levels now complete. Another view on the steps. This new platform will replace the top platform and will give access to the 'Mono Rail' boarding platform. Monorail boarding platform in the design stage. Thanks for looking.
  5. Can't think how to acheive that mechanically, but I will think on it.
  6. Progress seems a little slow, here;s a couple of images... The 0.5mm and 1.0mm diameter brass rod is manufactured by 'Albion Alloys Ltd and purchased from the Bay. That's three railing's complete, just about to start the fourth. Snitzl
  7. This tower will give 'Fun Town' residents one way access to the overhead monorail, there's quite a bit more designing to do and the tower needs to look complicated. Residents will then depart the monorail via the stairway on 'Vernes Tower'. Even so, the double Helix staircase is a nice feature and I will fit one in, somewhere..
  8. Thanks Mike, You hit the nail on the head with your comment, I have just a couple of more projects before I put much more time into gettiing everything up and running.
  9. Taking a short break from the 'Ice Cream' wagon saga, in fact the third wagon might become something else : maybe a fast food wagon serving tea / coffee. The next project has been on my todo list for years, it's an open circular tower with plenty of open stairs, iron railings and a central DCC operated lift. I've made the initial design in CAD, and modelled a few of the components, but things will change along the way and additional complexities will be added to make the structure more interesting. Starting off with just four levels. Here's a closer look at one level, some of the vertical posts will be altered to a more realistic profile. Machining the railings on the BCA rotary table ( 144 x 0.5mm diameter holes ). Two drills were broken while machining the four circular railings, not by drilling, but by wiping swarf away with a small brush : Material used was 10 thou brass sheet. The 'Base Plates' are machined from 1.0mm thick, double sided PCB. 10 thou brass sheet is used for the 'Steps'. Regards Snitzl
  10. Thanks Mikkel, A circus certainly is food for thought, but for the time being, I've a couple of weird / or at least different projects in the design stage.
  11. Fun Town - Ice Cream Wagon MKII : Continuing with the crazy idea of building a few animated wagon's that would run on DCC for Fun Town's market. Determined to have an animated figure in this build, so I went for a tea drinking ice cream seller that also rotated his head as he eyed up potential customers. Things didn't turn out quite as expected, but the final result aint to bad. Thanks for Looking............
  12. Here's a couple of images of the 'Ice Cream Wagon Stall' , which is now complete. The model is now fitted with a Gaugemaster DCC decoder and the animated bell ringer works in both forward and reverse direction. There are two LED's inside the cab and the rotating light on the roof, these are toggled ON/OFF as direction is selected on the controller. Sprayed with enamels and then given a few dabs with weathering powders. Thanks for Looking ..............
  13. Made a little progress with 'Ice Cream Wagon MKII', here's a few images : Added the additional gear mechanism for the transverse cylinders and a retaining plate secured by the motor mount 12BA screws. Here's the roof assembly complete with an extremely slow rotating LED light. The body now has window panels and bars bent from 0,5mm dia brass wire. Thanks for looking.
  14. I've been getting the same problem with most of my blogs and forum posts : It might be best to let the system settle down a little longer, to remedy, click on 'edit' and then re-upload or just re--attach your images, I've got some post's were this has happened three times. I do wonder if multiple images might end up in the database without links to documents. Snitzl
  15. Had this crazy idea about building a few animated wagon's that would run on DCC for Fun Town's market. Chassis gearbox milled from solid brass with a motor gearbox asseembly from the bay. The first wagon will be a steam driven 'Ice Cream Wagon' - with transverse cylinders. Outer body is a good slide fit on the chassis. A few moving parts added to the outside of the wagon. Wagon still needs a a decoder and paintjob, but works fine on 5 volts DC. Snitzl
  16. Found this while looking for missing images : Seem to remember that the Perris Company was taken over by Cowells who made slight modifications to this lathe and still sell them today. I used one these back in the 80's and for its size, it's a very nice lathe. Snitzl
  17. Hi All, I've managed to replace the lost images located in my blog's and forum entries, but don't seem able to update my image galleries. Any Idea's ? Snitzl
  18. Here is a short video taken during the development of the animated figure for the 'Ice Cream Wagon MKII'. I will now continue with the main body and roof. Thanks for Looking.
  19. Hi N15, I've allway's enjoyed your blogs, so I hope that you do decide to return to blogging.
  20. Here's an update on the 'Ice Ceam' wagon MKII. Most of the parts for the animated mechanism are now complete and it's now time to assemble. This is actually the third version of the animated mechanism, version one didn't get tested, version two would sometimes bind when operated. The 'Base Gearbox' has been modified and a new 45 tooth gear with an offset cam added. Mounting plate and animated mechanism added. The bent 'U' shaped wire and cam rotate the head ( which is a vertical piece of 0.5mm dia brass wire with a bend in it at the moment). Although the mechanism still needs a modified screw and retaing nut, I was able to test and the mechanism works fine. ( The angled plate lifts and lowers the wire that operates the guys drinking arm.). Another view fom the front.
  21. Hi All, This is Fun Town's didi turntable that I made a few months ago but I didn't want to post until I'd managed to get the video done. The turntable will serve to showcase future scratchbuilt Fun Town models.
  22. This is yet another of those jobs that's been on the to-do list for a few years, yet, what prompted me to make a start on this project was the fact that I needed a turntable to showcase some of the rolling stock for future model railway video projects I'm attempting. Therefore, the project will exclude a couple of design components that I will illustrate but not include in the model. Snitzl
  23. Spent a little time developing the mechanism for the 4mm scale animated man in CAD. The figure has been simplified and only the upper section of the body will be modelled when the time comes. Below is an animated GIF of this mechanism which looks OK, but some of those parts are tiny, the arms for instance are only 0.5mm dia, anyway, its a starting point, obviously things will most likely change during construction - time to start some modelling. Regards - Pete
