  1. That's a relief! I'm waiting for the decorated samples before I decide which of the SR variants to go for (I'm afraid one of each isn't on the cards right now!). Any news of when we might see them?
  2. Decisions decisions.....I think I may hang on until the decorated samples appear before possibly choosing!
  3. Ah, I'd forgotten to mention about the shields! I'm in the habit of leaving them on because it's my preference to not see all the way down the length of the coach as they go round my 2nd radius curves. One day when I get somewhere to build a layout with more gentle curves, I'll take the shields off!
  4. Are you sure they're too long? They look close coupled enough for me! They're very slightly closer together than a Hornby/Roco close coupling combination, but are easier to couple up. I've been looking at Hunt couplings, I'll get one of their sample packs to have a play with.
  5. Does anybody know the catalogue number for the magnetic couplings that came with these coaches? I was quite impressed with them and thought I might get some more to experiment with.
  6. Ah I see, I was going by some of the decorated sample photos that had been released of an alternative lettering style. Got my order in.
  7. Is somebody able to explain the difference in the lettering on the Rapido ballast wagons and the one recreated on the Bluebell https://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/wagon/567.html ? I've got a few Cambrian kits to decal up and it would be nice to find out.
  8. I have similar issues with my wagons. Worst affected is the light grey one no. 1922 (right in photo). The experimental steel door one (middle) and SR brown one from the first batch (left) have minor crazing in the paint, but nowhere near as bad.
  9. I'm glad this thread has popped up again as I've recently noticed that the roof of my first-run SR livery van has developed this crazing and cracking in the paint. Anybody else had this? No big deal as it can easily be rubbed down and painted again, but thought I'd flag it up @Oliver Rails
  10. I've moved my pre orders to Derails after seeing them being highly recommended on here. Excellent service over the phone and 35024 is due in the next two weeks
  11. Count me as one of the 'cancel crew'. I'll be cancelling my pre order for 21C7 with Hattons as well, time to phone round some independents and see who I can place an order with. I don't think I'll be pre ordering anything from Hattons again....
  12. Hattons now list R3632 35024 as in stock between February and April 2021 and R3717 21C7 as March-May 2021. Let's hope they don't cancel my pre orders like they've been doing to other customers lately
  13. And it follows that Hornby would be researching/measuring/photographing Stroudley coaches in late 2019 as a 'go with' for the new Terrier. Perhaps after Hattons made their Genesis announcement Hornby saw an opportunity to beat them to the shelves in the same way as they did with the Rails Terrier.
  14. Lead times for new models being what they are, it's quite likely that Hornby started on their 4 & 6 wheel coaches before Hattons.
  15. Has anybody repainted one into BR livery yet?
  16. Mine arrived from Hattons on Friday, runs very nicely even over all my insul-frog points. But the carriage 'Times' is missing a buffer, not loose in the box, just missing entirely! Do we know if Hornby will be offering spare parts?
