  1. To add to my comments of yesterday, there was a the back of the train was reserved for catering and Stadler. There appeared to be a Stadler rep there. TIN watch figures from the latest Modern Railways. A TIN is a technical incident and the figures I quote are for a moving annual average. Figures from June last year in brackets. 745/0 5529 (5395) 745/1 4625. (4080) 755/3 5635 (3254) 755/4 4625 (4080) The pure electrics should be more reliable shouldn't they. and for 720/5 2273.
  2. Today was the first time I have been on a train for 16 months. Came back from Liverpool Street on a Stansted Express to Manningtree rather than a "proper" Norwich 745. I had no problems with space but the seat is too upright and I rapidly developed discomfort in the lumbar region. The two things that I noticed were the jittery ride (but I had no difficulty in sending an email) and, walking through the train, how the floor height varies. As an aside, on the way down to London, on a 321, was the time spent waiting at each station. MR Trainwatch has the performance of both Stadler variations do not seem to have a rapidly improving performance.
  3. FYI, TIN watch from MR for period 2. Period 1 in first brackets and period 13 last brackets. 745/0 MAA 5178 (5395) (4750) 745/1 MAA 3835 (4080) (No p. 13) 755/4 MAA 3419 (3373*) (3156) 755/3 MAA 3604 (3254) (2947) * corrected figure. Electrics not healthy. Bi modes are improving. Table positions around the same except 755/4 and 755/3 are reversed. As usual Scotrail 385 top the leader board with an MAA of 34,230.
  4. Bit late this month. TIN watch from MR. Last month in brackets. (MAA = Moving Annual Average Miles per Technical Incident) Top of the class was, again, ScotRail class 385 with a score of 31,313. 745/0 MAA 5395 (4750) 755/4 MAA 3156 (3156) 755/3 MAA 3254 (2947) New entrant 745/1 has a MAA of 4080. Obviously the TIN for 745/0 for period 1 has improved and was 6899 as opposed to 4188 last month. I notice that the 755/4 had a worse MAA than the 755/3. Also included was a table for delay minutes which gives an indication on how long it takes to get going again. 745/0 for period 1 has 9.3 minutes, closely followed by 755/4 which has 9.7. 755/3 took 13.3 minutes. Whilxt 755/3 are 3rd from the bottom, the other two are in the middle of the table which goes from the best at 5.3 (TPE 397) to the worst 137.4 which is the surprising figure for the LNER 801. The next ot bottom was GWR HST short formed sets with 15.4. Hope this is of interest.
  5. just to echo many posts, I hope that beast66606 will not leave the us. I have enjoyed his excellent photos and his input to discussions. beast66606 many thanks for your help.
  6. Bad day for Basils? See EADT report https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/trains-cancelled-suffolk-ipswich-cambridge-lowestoft-1-6668663
  7. The news from Uncle Roger's TIN watch for period 13. 745/0 Miles per Technical Incident moving average was 4,750 (Period 12 was 6438). 755/4 was 3156 miles per TIN (up from 1311) and 755/3 at 2947 (up from 1311). Inperiod 13 745/0 achieved 4188 miles per TIN, more than 2000 miles worse than Period 12. Ugh!
  8. Picture from EADT showing 720 and 755 alongside. Interesting to compare looks.
  9. In the EADT today. https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/greater-anglia-trains-line-up-1-6625318
  10. Ìs a 720 a Basil? Or are all Stadlers Basils? And all Bombardier 720s something else...?
  11. The TIN Watch for period 12 in Uncle Roger's column has the 745 as MTIN as 6,096 miles Moving Annual Average per TIN 6,438 miles. For 755/4 the figures are 3,132 and 2,662. For 755/3 the figures are 2,882 and 2,308. He also includes a comparison with Period 6 which shows the 755/4 as the MTIN improving by 1,352 miles and 755/3 by 998 miles. By contrast the Scot Rail 385 change was 11,741 miles but this is an EMU. Including the 385, the average improvement for all 17 classes listed is 1671 but excluding the 385s, average is 981 miles. Two classes, both EMUs, have gone backwards, 345 (full length units) by 1,190 and 331/1 by 105. The complex 755 bimodes have not done badly me thinks. Bu a very long way to go before either 745 or 755 can be considered reliable. The positions on the table is roughly as last month. Hope this is of interest.
  12. Roger Ford TIN watch preview states that 755/4 have improved by 103%. Haven't got the full details yet.
  13. In case anyone is interested, Roger Fords TIN watch for period 11 has the 745 entering the table a little below the middle. The Moving Annual TIN is 7,291 miles which is just above 345 RLU, i.e. Sheffield to Liverpool Street and about 1,300 miles behind TPE 802. The 355s have been split into 355/4 at 2,662 miles and 755/3 at 1,855. These compares with 3698 for the two fleets combined in period 10. Average mileage run per unit for 745 is 7,291, for 755/4 10,221 and 755/3 5,779. Putting this into perspective the long haul 80x generally seem to do 15,000 to 17,000. The well established class 700 average 11,646. The bottom of the league ex-LT 230 manage MATIN of 777 miles and ran 4,417 miles in the period.
  14. Zombiod, like you, I have dined only once on the GEML. That was back in the days of steam on my way to an interview so expenses paid. The entire meal was served whilst stationary at Gidea Park. I was rather late arriving at Ipswich...but only the first of many late arrivals on BR and all the others.
  15. Looking at the extra comings and goings around Ipswich this afternoon the signallers were having to work very hard to keep everything going. Impressed.
