  1. Ive a 2015/6 Farish Jubilee Locomotive to renumber. Ive tried Tcut and cocktail stick both immediate and leaving the Tcut for 20 minutes, it has no effect, the factory printed 'gold' numerals are rock hard, ive scraped one cab side off and it too is difficult. does anybody have a softening solution? ive other late locos to do so dont want to carry on scratching them off. these late model Locos are radically different printing to earlier Poole production where Tcut does work. There must be an easier way
  2. I have a Hornby Schools Class (China build) Loco Drive which has a bust gear. its the 14 tooth intermediate gear. Ive spent ages searching the net, the Hornby spares sheet lists it as coming bagged as a set together with the tandem gear above it, the only person to have the sealed bag is Peters spares and Hornby have not included this 14 tooth gear. So.. my question is do any of you know of another Hornby China loco that uses a 14 tooth gear also and perhaps a part number for this alternative gear? Ive contacted Hornby three weeks back and have no reply. Kind regards Gene
  3. Hi @Paul.Uni I had read elsewhere that the Lakeside loco was not exBasra and was something else renumbered and that Basra itself had been scrapped. Given the mists of time which is which?
  4. I’m partway into converting a late version Bachfarish 08 into a Basra LMR. It’s started out as a damaged BR 08 that been hurled across a room (no me I hasten to add), a spare body shell and that I’ve other LMR Locos. Yes there is a special edition model from the collectors club; this however is based upon a later BR model and has wrong running plate toolboxes, therefore wrong side doors and a full array of running lights bracketry which Basra didn’t have. ive cast resin low level toolboxes to cut to the correct lengths and am moulding the full height side doors, I’ve also plans to make the single high level spotlights. The front radiator sides ladders are missing so I’m looking to use NBrass for which I’ve to drill to fixings as again the Farish later 08 is different to the earlier LMS Derby build. Does anybody make the side ‘Basra’ nameplates either as a transfer or etch? I’m also looking for transfers for which Cambridge Custom are a likely source unless I can find a full Basra set. I’m looking at a ‘wargames’ Kantor blue unless somebody can guide me to a suitable aerosol can colour. Any comments or suggestions most welcome.
  5. Where and when was AD878 finally scrapped then......
