  1. As has been pointed out on another topic there is a really useful selection of photos of an exhibition train of Freightliner at https://hetutrechtsarchief.nl/beeldmateriaal/?mode=gallery&view=horizontal&rows=1&page=1&fq[]=search_s_trefwoorden:"Containervervoer"&q=freightliner&reverse=0 This has 18 photos taken in Amsterdam 31 May 1967. A lot of the containers are familiar from other Freightliner advertising, but there are more details in some of these. They include the surprising construction of the floor of the K open containers, and one of the 10ft Gs. Incidentally there are a lot more container photos on this site from this period, mostly the cross Atlantic maritime ones that kicked off this revolution, but there is nice old BR BD easily found. 2. And you miss my point which that the company doesn't hide what it does, Instead, and unlike virtually all other railway freight users, they spend thousands, probably tens of thousands putting vinyls on the side of these enormous (by UK standards) wagons to explain what they believe they are achieving by burning mature north American forests with a very large bonus from UK taxpayers via Government grants. Paul
  3. Yes, dreadful destruction of old growth forest in North America. However, they do like to advertise - the new small batch of wagons built by Davis last year are just as strongly vinyld as the revinyld earlier ones. Most of the new batch are working to Immingham, but a few are mixed in with the earlier wagons on other flows. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/draxbiomass/edc4fe63c https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/draxbiomass/edc4fe6a8 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/draxbiomass/edc4fe6c8 Paul
  4. Unusual container, Looks like it has openings for the tines of a large forklift. Paul
  5. You haven't mentioned which model you have. But this may assist https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/warwell/e298ff655 or https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/warwell/e3b7e540c or https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/warwell/e8d5c324e Paul
  6. Loose shunted. Fly shunting is usually illegal and dangerous. And yes I have seen it done at Twickenham station with a standard 4MT tank infront of platform of passengers. Lovely photo. What is that long rake of PT wagons with the main writing on a slight diagonal at the far right. Paul
  7. 21 photos of it in https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/departmentalcoachprivate and in formation https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/nrultrasonic Paul
  8. Reflects they were an all purpose open merchandise wagon suitable for going to the Continent. Paul

  10. Not simply latitude but pages and pages of different acceptable designs of fixtures and fixings as well as the bodies, frame manufacture etc. There aren't many easily accessible places to see the variety but Essery's Midland Railway wagon book shows the variety of axleboxes that this one company used. https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/wagondetailspoetc https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/axleboxes https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brakerigging https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/buffers Paul
  11. Like this untidy mess! Unusual for me to take photos with workers in it but it was a lucky find unusually very close to my home. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/lmstube/e2a5cca05 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/lmstube/e21b3c360 Paul
  12. This book has a lot of the RCH drawings as well as explaining how such wagons were developed. And it is available! https://hmrs.org.uk/private-owner-wagons-ince-waggon-co-book.html Paul

  17. Quite clearly there are two lengths illustrated. They didn't change running number so the 12ft wb ex Pipes can be seen on some of the official photos. Paul
  18. I still keep coming back to these. I don't understand why a model is in this topic. OK some aspects are well done - the trees are unusually large and realistic but just plonking the PMV on the platform looks awful. Paul
  19. And a grossly overpowered steel train - I realise that Bachy BDAs are expensive, if you can get them. Paul
  20. I managed one TADPOLE at Woodhams. Not sure it has extra weight, but it does have the departmental fishkind. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/srvan/e80cd3bd Paul
  21. Yes, very dry early on that summer. We went away to Iran that May time and I remember coming back at Heathrow and noticing that the grass verges looked more like a desert than Iran (I exaggerate, but only slightly). 1976 was memorable because it followed the unusually hot 1975, so insects in particular had a ball. With 1976 so hot we also had plagues of ladybirds. I remember the memo around all MAFF offices that under no circumstances must any staff member give advice on control of ladybirds - they were the good guys, but the big 7 spots hav a nasty bite! 1976, One of the wettest years on record (until the last few months I suspect) Once it began to rain c 8 September 76 it didn't stop until c March 77. By the way there were green 20s at Toton when we wagonned there in September 1978 https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brclass20/e3680380a Paul
  22. No, I have no idea where I got that Chief Officer suggestion from, but presumably correct! What is odd is that CO continued to be used well into BR days and whether there was control by a Chief Officer or simply it was always written like that" I don't know. I still think Construction seems more likely! Paul
  23. The mother with two children is such a common site, but I don't believe I have ever seen it modelled before. Mum and Dad with a small child inbetween being swung along would also be a nice design. Paul
