  1. All great answers and all possibly true. I should have a copy of the 12/2002 RMC. Another question is: Were the WWI and WWII versions the same? Thanks! All the best, Art
  2. I think I know the unusual history of these locomotives and I've always been fascinated by all those wheels. Now, I have two of them in HO. The Bachmann 2-10-0, which has so much air under the small boiler, is a lovely model. The brass United Frisco Russian 2-10-0 is also a grand model. Both, I think, are meant to be models of 2-10-0s shipped to Russia, yet they are completely different. The Frisco has a much larger boiler and looks like a later (possibly WW2 locomotive). Why are they different? Art
  3. Hi, both replies are very helpful. I was able to find some brass tubing (id 2.0, od 2.4 from Eileens Emporium in the UK). It was actually just over 2.4mm and I was able to open the the hole in the worm gear by the smallest amount and it worked! The locomotive runs beautifully. Thanks! Art
  4. Hello, I'm new to this forum and I may be posting in the wrong area - just let me know. I model American HO, but the question is probably not unique to US HO. I have some old brass models which are wood burning. They look fine but are best re-motored. I have some nice Mashima motors to do the job, their axle diameters are 2.0 mm. The existing worm and round gear look to be in good condition and I'd like to use them. However the old motor axle is 3/32nds inch or about 2.4mm. Do you have any ideas how I can proceed? All the best, Art
