  1. I've tried to check if this group has been linked to already, but can't see that it has. (If it has already been linked, apologies.)

This is a Flickr group specifically for photos taken in 1968. While it's mostly steam, the description says that pictures of 'modern traction' are equally as welcome, and there are quite a few.

Ok, I'll own up - I started the group mainly to garner reference photos for a layout I'd love to get round to making!

  2. Steam-hauled Mk2s: Southern region had at least one Mk2 (a FK) which was green  - I have a photo of it (in a book) 2nd in a long train of green mainly Bulleid coaches leaving Waterloo for Basingstoke in 1966 hauled by 5MT 73118. I dont imagine there were many of these, it may have been unique.

Also seen a photo of this / one of these, being hauled by a Merchant Navy in 66/67.

  3. Can these links just be hung on the standard coupling hooks of Bachmann and Hornby wagons without any modification?

Well, yes and no... You CAN drill a small hole into Hornby/Bachmann 3 link hooks and hang 3 links off them, but they tend to be far too shallow in design to survive much shunting. In my experience it's worth the short-term hassle of fitting proper coupling hooks to avoid having to constantly re-couple wagons every few seconds!

  4. However, it's not what I call Marillion. I was/still am a huge fan of the band's first incarnation with Fish and this isn't the same band to me and should really have another name.

I agree, not least because it would reduce the amount of "Bring back Fish!" comments on everything they upload anywhere on the internet!

(Not aimed at you, you're making a reasoned point :P)

  5. And speaking of Anne-Marie Helder

[The Dark Room - Luna Rossa]

There's only one problem with that track - it's right at the beginning of the album, and as a result I often don't get past track 1 (after several repeat plays) on a drive to work!
